His last 5 games I would love to carbon copy and say gimme that every night…

18mpg 9.6ppg 4.4rpg 69%fg 80%FT

That’s probably about the best you can realistically hope for from him, maybe another rebound, but if he can give us that the rest of the year that would be big imo.
No doubt. That’s perfect from him. Like you said, more rebounding would be ideal, but he is what he is in that regard, so if you could bottle those numbers up, you’d take it every night.

This along with his solid defense at the 5. He’s done about as well as anyone the last 2 seasons keeping Tshiebwe from taking over. He has the strength to hold his position well and prevent guys from setting up too low on the blocks. Will be interesting to see how he does against Castleton and the Texas a&m bigs

If we are talking about Uros in a vacuum, it isn’t fair to compare him to Aidoo. My goal was never to compare them, but since you want to, Uros is 2” taller, 20 lbs heavier, and 4 years older. Expecting more of him isn’t exactly radical thinking.

I’m judging Uros against Uros, not against Aidoo because I’m not trying to prop up Aidoo and talk down about Uros. I’m just presenting the arguments some have against Uros and why they see greater upside in someone like Aidoo who has 4 years less experience but still produces at the same rate. I think that’s a relatively fair argument.

I’m not making a case for one over the other, but I understand why some fans are “tired” of Uros for lack of a better term. Even if he doesn’t possess the skills to be all-league, that won’t stop some fans from growing tired of his role and lack of dramatic improvement.

Im fine with Uros, his role, and his progression. Every team needs role players and he plays his role, sometimes even outplaying it.
Understand your position, but there’s a bunch of vocal posters wanting Uros benched and Aidoo for 30+ minutes a game. Personally, I like our 2 fives and think they bring different skill sets that complement each other.

PS - I’ve always understood a basketball player’s practical length was their standing reach and vertical jump? Doesn’t Aidoo measure better at both of those vs Uros?

Coleman, in particular.

Uros does many things very well that don’t show up in box scores. Distributing from the high post. Sealing off offensive players and preventing them from grabbing rebounds. Sealing off defenders providing open lanes to the basket (Chandler was good at taking advantage of that). Setting multiple screens on EVERY possession while NOT fouling. But the board “geniuses” are chomping at the bit to scream that he sucks and to bench him with any bad play. Even those plays predicated by uncalled hacks by opponents.

Yeah, it’s frustrating to see the comments, but I’ve come to get used to it.

Until we step back and remember that the word ‘dan’ is short for ‘fanatic’ which explains perfectly the reactions of those people. Especially the ones that don’t really understand the game at a high level.

Not sure, but they featured Uros’s standing reach in the Kentucky game with Holly Rowe (I think) on a ladder. His was measured at 9’4” if I remember. Uros has a 7’5” wingspan and Aidoo has a 7’4” wingspan, so I’d venture to guess Aidoo’s standing reach is probably around 9’1”.

Neither is an explosive leader, so not sure the vertical jump is worth noting. I’d assume that Aidoo’s is maybe a little better because he’s lighter and appears to be a little more athletic, but he also has the chronic knee issue, too, so not sure how that’s affected his leaping ability.

A bunch? Not sure I’ve seen a single one of those takes recently at all, but I also don’t read game threads so if maybe I missed them.

For some reason I thought I heard Dane say Aidoo had a 9'3 standing reach after one of his blocks the other night.

Per google Aidoo has a 9’-4” standing reach so they are really close there if the info is correct. Aidoo is far better at blocking shots so he’s either much quicker or jumps higher I’d guess?

Another aspect to Uros that nobody brings up is its probably helpful to have a hard nosed vet dishing out valuable life advice like "bring your own condoms to make sure the girl doesn't poke holes in them".

I have to admit I wish I came up with that but that was from a discussion with one of my brothers last week haha. Kevin Garnett (especially back with the Timberwolves) and Udonis Haslem basically extended their careers doing that.

Blocks, are honestly a bit overrated when it comes to defense. You see it constantly in the NBA. Big men arrive and their blocks usually decline as they grow into veterans. The reasoning I've read is that blocks often occur when a big man has taken a bad position defensively. As they learn better positioning initially their block numbers go down but their defense gets better. Rudy Gobert and DeAndre Jordan have owned the C position on the All-NBA defensive squad the last decade and between them they led the league in blocks once.
