BTO sightings?

While I don’t know BTO, I appreciate the post game write ups.

One thing I don’t understand is why a person resorts to sarcasm or name calling if s/he disagrees with another’s comment. It you don’t like the comment then move on. I’m sure I am guilty, too, but will make sure to think before posting in the future.

While I still hold the players and coaches accountable, I see things a bit different since my son is the same age as many of the athletes.

Anyway, I hope BTO will make time to address today’s game, and even the A&M game, as I value his and others’ opinions.

GO VOLS!

I had stopped doing them after recent losses because those threads were typically swarmed with drive by negavols who don’t know the difference between a basketball and a tangerine. The reports take quite a bit of time to put together and something I enjoy doing, but to seemingly have them ruined/diminished by a number of posters just made me avoid doing them after some bad losses. But then after wins I didn’t want to just do them and people be critical of only doing them after wins, I’ll try to be better about it. I can do one on South Carolina along with just some overall thoughts, I’ve done that before when missing a game or two.

Where he at? Missed his post game summary. One of the best things on this forum in my opinion. I assumed he stopped due to the ridiculousness that ensued after our last rough spot. Anyone know?
BTO was rollin' down the highway and takin' care of business when he realized he forgot to make his game summary post. Thought about pulling over to do a short one, but said to hell with it. Just let it ride.

I think everyone appreciates your write ups after the games. I look for the write ups even after losses to get your perspective on why we lost. Especially interested in your thoughts about our offense when we are struggling to score.

388 replies in the USC in game thread.

1,850 replies in the Texas A&M thread.

Whatever that means
I get it. It sucks to sift through all the people venting about their disappointment or disdain for whatever.

But I don’t think anyone should stop just because of that.

If you don’t want to keep providing quality content and conversation, that’s one thing.

Giving up because of a bunch of crybaby fans or drive by trolls is another thing all together. You’re giving in to their negativity and they win because their entire point is to bring you down with them.

@BTO, you’re not obligated to write a summation after a TN game, but I truly enjoy your opinions as it gives all of us a way to discuss each game. Of course I want TN to win every game, but the “post game reports” after a loss are fun to read, too.

Anyway, feel free to reduce some of the “research commentary” as I know it’s time consuming. You do a great job stating facts by researching statistics and then basing your opinions from the info. Most post comments off of emotion.

Thanks again. Go Vols!

I figured that that may be the case. Very frustrating to see the ignorance come out because a bad game. Still, many obviously enjoy your analysis and, to me at least, they always seem fair and removed from the emotion of the result.

We kicked South Carolina’s azz. Post game summary is now complete.

Yep....never understand someone giving an opinion on a opinion board is labeled a troll....Never made sense to me.

I think the distinction might be calling it an “opinion board” vs a “discussion board”. Some people like to have a civil conversation. Others just want to vent their spleen and shout their opinion into the void. The former don’t much appreciate the latter and sometimes people do a little bit of both 🤷‍♂️

I don't post much. I read posts all day; every day. I always look forward to your post after the games. I am a football guy but also love the basketvols. Please keep it up. I enjoy your insights and enthusiasm.

I noticed after losses you stopped. Just write them and ignore the jack wagons. We’ve had interaction before and it’s always been civil. Appreciate what you do but enjoy your perspective after wins and losses.

Dont let the trolls get to you. I personally appreciate your writeups immensely as they are thoughtful and realistic. Just realize trolls come and go.

Just reading these posts, you can see the posters BTO is talking about. When someone complains about the word troll being used to describe posters who are giving their "opinion"; it's pretty obvious.

Well, I for one appreciate BTO’s reports after the game and I miss them, win or lose. It’s hard to transition from football thinking to basketball thinking and some people can’t do it or don’t want to do it. I hate losing as much as anyone but in basketball, it happens to everyone. Anyway, BTO, thank you and I hope you reconsider.

There is a small set of VN posters who have distinguished themselves by posting with authority and insight, humor and character, and yes... consistency

@Fingers and his spring practice reports
@OneManGang with his "TN vs The Maxims vs X" war stories from the gridiron and the battle front
If @OldTimer or @NO SIR EEE start a thread in the baseball forum, you better open it as there is likely national pastime wisdom--college style--within
@allvolrecruiting and @HoleInTheRoof have established themselves as credible football recruiting researchers
@Ron Swanson -- perfectly personifies his screen name with a consistent, knowing, and witty Vols football recruiting passion always in the Parks and Rec style of his namesake

Add to them @bleedingTNorange of men's basketball enthusiasm. Sometimes over the top as a passioate fan yet always respectful and knowledgeable. Digs just as deep into basketball recruiting rankings as he does game recaps as he does arguing with @BruinVol or @TheMookieMonster or the latest negavol--with dignity and humor

BTO, please keep bringing the recaps if you can stomach the negavols. You add context and perspective to the up and down marathon that is a SEC college basketball season. You belong in this pantheon
