BTO sightings?

There is a small set of VN posters who have distinguished themselves by posting with authority and insight, humor and character, and yes... consistency

@Fingers and his spring practice reports
@OneManGang with his "TN vs The Maxims vs X" war stories from the gridiron and the battle front
If @OldTimer or @NO SIR EEE start a thread in the baseball forum, you better open it as there is likely national pastime wisdom--college style--within
@allvolrecruiting and @HoleInTheRoof have established themselves as credible football recruiting researchers
@Ron Swanson -- perfectly personifies his screen name with a consistent, knowing, and witty Vols football recruiting passion always in the Parks and Rec style of his namesake

Add to them @bleedingTNorange of men's basketball enthusiasm. Sometimes over the top as a passioate fan yet always respectful and knowledgeable. Digs just as deep into basketball recruiting rankings as he does game recaps as he does arguing with @BruinVol or @TheMookieMonster or the latest negavol--with dignity and humor

BTO, please keep bringing the recaps if you can stomach the negavols. You add context and perspective to the up and down marathon that is a SEC college basketball season. You belong in this pantheon
Appreciate the shout out good sir!

While I don’t know BTO, I appreciate the post game write ups.

One thing I don’t understand is why a person resorts to sarcasm or name calling if s/he disagrees with another’s comment. It you don’t like the comment then move on. I’m sure I am guilty, too, but will make sure to think before posting in the future.

While I still hold the players and coaches accountable, I see things a bit different since my son is the same age as many of the athletes.

Anyway, I hope BTO will make time to address today’s game, and even the A&M game, as I value his and others’ opinions.

GO VOLS!
Agreed, I have cut back on my posts because so many people if they disagree about or don’t understand or know the truth, they don’t respond to the point of the conversation but instead insult others- classic keyboard cowards get a life!

I think there's a double edged sword. People complain about "trolls" only show up and post when we lose or playing badly. Saying those are nega vols.

But can't only have people posting about showing up after a win either. It goes both ways

I appreciate the time and effort that goes into those threads and I understand why starting threads doesn't feel worth it. It's often a race to see which jackass can post the fastest with rancor and sarcasm without adding value to the discussion.

I post when I'm pissed and I post when I'm happy, others can only be complete NegaVols, which is their right on a discussion board.

I had stopped doing them after recent losses because those threads were typically swarmed with drive by negavols who don’t know the difference between a basketball and a tangerine. The reports take quite a bit of time to put together and something I enjoy doing, but to seemingly have them ruined/diminished by a number of posters just made me avoid doing them after some bad losses. But then after wins I didn’t want to just do them and people be critical of only doing them after wins, I’ll try to be better about it. I can do one on South Carolina along with just some overall thoughts, I’ve done that before when missing a game or two.

Just put them on ignore when they show you who they are. Life on VN gets better when you do that.

Hell, I got you on ignore because of the MVP thread. Felt like you were twisting my words multiple times even after I clarified. I don't got time for that. I don't think you were trolling. Some people just don't get each other. No hard feelings. Cheers.

I have been on various sites for decades. Rarely post. Read often. Over the years, there have been some great posters that provide valuable insight. Those that provide that insight have been harassed to the point that they no longer post. I have watched many come and go. When they leave, there is a giant gap that eventually is filled by the next. Vicious cycle. I cannot count the many times that I have started to respond and then deleted prior to post. Why fight on the internet when you can meet at waffle house? :)

BTO was rollin' down the highway and takin' care of business when he realized he forgot to make his game summary post. Thought about pulling over to do a short one, but said to hell with it. Just let it ride.
You ain’t seen nothing yet…

While I enjoy the write ups by several Volnation posters I often wonder if it's prudent to worry about someone's post agreeing or disagreeing with our post? Some do seem to get feelings hurt and some do seem to try and hurt others feelings. Being good friends with former athletes, coaches etc I feel confident there's not too many of us here that "really" know what's going on anyway. We usually state the surface and obvious stuff and debate those things. With all the absolute danger and disarray around us in America today I guess (at best) all this stuff is a good distraction from what really should be our greatest concern. JMO.

Who even knows if they are drive by negavols. Some of the people who post on here seem to be drive by nuts who just like to stir the pot when things don't go the Vols win in a loss. I still believe we have a good team and if we get completely healthy at the right time could do fine in the NCAA Tourney. I know this for sure our defense will be fine and if we get our offense going we can make a run!

I seldom contribute valuable insight; but if your use of "incite" was a Freudian slip, it's a riot! ;)

The criticism after loses rarely is simply objective analysis or commentary of what went wrong. It’s 90% the coach sux or specific players suck or we’re going to lose the rest or Barnes makes too much money or Barnes can’t win “in March” or he’s Regular Season Rick or Coach Whomever needs to be hired or this is why Texas blew CRB out or Bring Back Bruce. Same old, useless crap. And then when some reasons for losing or not playing well in wins do get posted, the trolls attack those posters for “making excuses” or “swinging on” the coach’s man parts. It wasn’t so pathetic when TN was a middle of the pack SEC team.

BTO’s summaries are great because he is passionate about Vol basketball and informed. Always is a good baseline thread for others to voice opinions. It is common to have differences of opinion with others which is what these boards are for, but it is mind numbing at times to see the amount of mud that is thrown and insults directed specifically at Barnes. He isn’t flawless but he has made UT relevant and has elevated our program to a level we need to appreciate more even when losses occur.

Not many games left for the season, and hope we can get healthy and put a nice run together. As stated before we can beat anyone when playing well. But we can also lose to anyone in the top 100 when we lay an egg. The spread and level of performance of this group is wide. You could say they keep it interesting to say the least.
