Bucket List

I'm brainstorming ideas for a bucket-list trip this fall. Kids are on the horizon so I'd like to go somewhere that I probably won't be able to enjoy again. I'm thinking Morocco or the Great Barrier Reef.

The four seasons at Costa Rica is worth seeing. The half moon resort in Jamaica isn't bad either.

Scuba Dive - Done (Hawaii)
Bungee Jump - Done (Costa Rica)
Sky Dive - Done (Georgia)
Hang Glide - Done (Lookout Mountain)
Climb a Respectable Mountain - Unfinished
Write a Book - In progress
Crowd Surf - Done
Record an Album - Done (I suck)
Make a movie - Done (Worst movie ever)

I had more, but I tend to finish my bucket list entries within a year or two. The mountain climbing may have to wait. I would like to do this, but the costs of buying the gear necessary vs a mortgage payment is tough right now.

The Great Barrier Reef is amazing. Diving and snorkeling there is incredible.

In no particular order:
Walk the AT
Walk the Great Wall
Ride the Orient Express
Drive Africa from North to South
Canoe the Amazon
Visit Lake Victoria and then the Nile in Egypt
Hang glide
Attend cooking school in Italy
Visit Ankor Wat
Fly fish in Siberia

(Can't wait for kids to leave the house!)

I had a friend to the first (in its entirety). He said it was life changing.
I'll do the second in the not to distant future although the girlfriend says you have to get out of the tourist traps to appreciate it.
Ankor Wat is impressive. It would have been even more impressive if they wouldn't have had the recent wars (last 100 years). Sadly, you can the effects of the war. Watching the sun rise there is a must.

Unfortunately I won't be able to manage 2 weeks off. You think 9 days is enough, including travel?

I understand the challenge and that flight is a beast. I'd say 9 days is enough if your trip focus is the GBR. You could fly into Cairns, set up base and then explore various parts of the reef. There are tropical rainforests in that part of the continent as well.

If you want to see much more of Australia that could be a challenge, but you could swing it by giving up a little downtime. Perhaps travel down the east coast toward Brisbane then Sydney. It's a beautiful place with great people.
