Bud Shootout Is Sat Nite

That was Dodge's first Bud Shootout win plus Kurt's first RP win which is surprising. I wonder if the Duels will be as exciting as tonight?

That was probably the first Budweiser Kurt has held in public in a long time. Congrats to the 22.

Kinda makes me wish he were still in the blue deuce. Can you imagine how awkward it would have been for the Miller Lite car to win the Budweiser Shootout?

I may be in the minority but I didn't think that was great at all. I thought it was an abomination of what restrictor plate racing actually is. This two car train racing is just not interesting to me in the least. No, they don't have to be wadded up in a 43 car pack but good lord this was just ridiculous.

NASCAR could fix this by Thursday by simply making the Cup teams jack up the rear ends of the cars a few inches. This way the bumpers won't line up and it will be more like what you see in the truck series at Daytona and Dega. Bump drafting from time to time but mostly only at the very end of the race because the chances you will turn someone will be very high.

Or, NASCAR could say no bump drafting - period. Most of the time I would be against cuffing the drivers but not in this instance. Yeah, maybe it would create less passing but at least there would be some strategy involved instead of "lets find a guy and hook to him and push him around until we get blocked."

Like I said maybe I'm in the minority here but I thought that was complete and utter garbage. This two car train thing has to stop - it may very well ruin my favorite race of the year.

If they let this continue when drivers won't be so nice in the 500 next Sunday I could see a horrible wreck stemming from this type of push drafting.

I liked it, pretty good racing. They still managed to run over each other but they always do that.

I personally prefer lots of 2 car groups to 2 20 car trains.

Just proves the adage "different strokes for different folks". Or "you can't please everyone"

If NASCAR slows them down, and I bet they do, it may be back to trains of follow the leader.

You're probably right, they might have got a little too hot tonight. But I don't mind the belly to back drafting, there is a certain skill and ability, plus the reputation to be trusted to run with someone, that makes it interesting.

More or less, it will make laps 50-150 alot more interesting at Daytona than they have been recently, there might be more to look for than someone getting loose and wiping out 14 cars in the middle stretch.

DJ is acceptable, but Rusty's voice gets to me after not too long a time. No one is up to Ned Jarrett or Benny Parson's level.

I liked the team of Eli Gold and Buddy Baker on TNT myself. I didn't really care for Dr. Dirt as a color commentary anchor with them, though.
