The first big one has happened, thoughts on the return to old pack racing?

Back to the Future. I like it.

I still think the two car stuff will show up late and be the deciding factor in the win.

At this rate, I'll be shocked if more than half the field finishes the 500.

Kurt has wrecked two cars for this race, being with a small and underfunded team he can't do this.

Even if you don't like Kyle Busch, you can't deny he didn't deserve this.

That was the best racing at Daytona in a long time. Yes, they had some big crashes but all 3 were caused by drivers being complete boneheads and pushing on the left side of a car in the turns which you just can't get away with anymore with the new rules in place. It was such a welcome change to see drivers being able to draft with who they wanted to, change lanes, change partners, and not be completely handcuffed to one other guy the entire run.

They've found the perfect balance it seems - the two car tango just don't work for very long and they can't pull away from the pack with ease like they were able to last year. The benefits of the two car draft are mostly negated now and it works like it should - in spurts. If drivers can get their heads out of their respective hind ends Thursday and next Sunday should both provide some awesome, close racing.

The main reason I'm happy is that we are seeing guys being able to do their own thing again and not tied to another driver. Even though big ones can happen at LEAST the drivers now make their own choices and aren't completely dependent on another car out there.

That was hell of a race, but hopefully they learned that pushing in the corners ain't gonna fly this year. If they don't the 500 will be a yawner with cautions every 10 laps.

I probably dislike Kyle Busch more than any other driver not named Kurt Busch in motorsports. That said, I think what he did tonight may have been his most impressive driving of his career.
