I am further right than you my friend...

I don't know what's scarier, him thinking you're a Democrat or you being further right than him.

Sorry to scare you OWB. I would say I am further right than him purely for the sake that I know where I stand on all issues and my logical reasoning behind my beliefs. Smoke Em on the other hand has yet to post a logical or reasonable statement of his beliefs.

Yeah, I was just thinking him taking you for a Democrat is probably the scariest (or funniest) of the two because of that reason.

First time in my life anyone has ever taken me for a Dem. Considering that it was Smoke Em, I am actually proud of that. Any distance that can be placed between him and myself is fine by me.

Our country would be so nice with a bunch of zombies walking and driving around. The left does not care one bit for the average american. Why do you think you were blasted in the last election? Democrats have lost all connection with the average american??

Go to any college campus and they aren't all zombies walking around. :biggrin2:

I consider myself an average American (<--capitalized) and I think it's a good idea. Am I a Demo too?

The thing is, you can't protect everyone from everything. Eventually you have to put your faith in the people to do the right thing. If you don't then why do we vote? Do you hate democracy smoke?

In my opinion, this is another situation where the Government steps in and controls what you take. You can't tell me that marijuana is anymore dangerous than Oxycontin and from what I've read, marijuana manages the pain just as well.

However, our pharmaceutical companies make the Oxycontin, and the pharmaceutical companies write the big checks. It's about the money.

It has never been a war on drugs, it's been a war on the drugs that cut into the pharmaceutical and governmental profits.

You want a walking Zombie? Take about 8 mg of Xanax and chase it down with some Jim Beam, both are legal, yet more destructive than smoking a joint.

And it's getting more and more ridiculous all the time. I can't even go down the street and buy a bottle of DayQuill anymore without jumping through hoops.

I went to buy allergy medicine the other day and was amazed. When did all this happen? Maybe I just missed it.

While I too think weed should be legalized or at least de-criminalized, I think Big Pharma is the wrong target for the villan here. Oxy, Xanax and any number of other narcotics are legal but heavily regulated. I'd say that alcohol is the closest analogy. I would guess the alcohol industry along with some agriculture (where hemp) could serve as a substitute have a larger role in the issue than Big Pharma. That plus the stigma of "drugs" attached to weed stops the legalization.

I blame Bill Bennett and Nancy Reagan :hi:

Here within the last year or so. Apparently some of the ingredients in cold and allergy meds are used to make designer drugs, so they keep a list of who buys what now, and limit how much you can buy.

Illegal Immigration, War on Terror, Gay Marriage

So basically, you are a biggot. You do not like Mexicans, so illegal immigration is your issue. You are probably not all that fond of Islam, so the War on Terror gets rid of them. And, you obviously hate Homosexuals (through no fault of your own though, they are unnatural, so you third issue is Gay Marriage. You are less concerned about the health of "The Republic," than you are with ridding your life of those people that disgust you.

So I read that and said "yep, yep, HUH?" Not that I'm so keen on the idea of gay marriage (civil unions and equal rights I can stand) but is it really one of the top 3 issues facing this nation today?

I think I would have started with rehauling our current Federal Revenue program.

1. I don't have any problems with mexicans. However, I definitely have a problem with illegeal immigrants whi come to our country and expect to have the same rights that we have. They also take American jobs. If they are not legal citizens, then yes they need to be sent back to mexico. They are simply breaking the law. 2. I have no problem with Muslims who practice their religion however they please. However, they have no right to terrorize the people of their own country and of others. Hint 911. 3. I am strongly for backing an ammendment that would define marriage as a unity between a man and a woman. My concern for that is beacuse it is not good for the health of "the republic."

They pay as much taxes as the average American tax payer does, and they do not have the right to vote. They do not have the right to a trial by their peers. So, I am wondering exactly which of the same rights they have?

If American legislators hadn't enacted such high minimum wages, their would be no demand for illegal workers. I for one, would rather pay retail prices for items that were produced at lower costs than retail prices for items that were produced at higher costs.

Fair enough. If that is one of your top 3 issues, you should enlist in the military. Or else, you are just sitting around waiting for someone else to take care of this problem.

You should be more supportive of legislation that takes marriage out of government hands. If a certain church wants to marry you and the one you love, that church has that right. If you feel threatened because your church then married two homosexuals, then change churches.

I do not believe that there would be a huge increase in the number of users if narcotics were legalized. People who use and want to use are going to use whether it is legal or not. Case and point: prohibition.

Also, many drug crimes are the result of junkies needing money (or dealers collecting money) to pay for the outrageous prices that the current illegal status of narcotics forces in the black market. The price would drop considerably if legalized, dealers would lose control, and crime would drop.

As for many of the countries in South America flirting with Nationalization...investing in South America is as much of a business risk as investing in China, Spain, etc. Businesses still do it.

2nd time today I have found myself agreeing with you, realUT. :hi:
