UGA lost Malcolm Mitchell this year due to this type of celebration. Knowing the potential for injury CBJ should not encourage it. Celebrating with ur players is one thing but he needs to remember he is the HC not a player. He needs to maintain that level of authority. Just like any manager has to in the corporate world with his employees.

This doesn't make me an old fart either. If we lose a player due to the celebration like UGA did it will be without a doubt CBJs fault for encouraging it.

Look at it this way...

(from Wikipedia)

Calisthenics are a form of exercise consisting of a variety of exercises, often rhythmical, movements, generally without using equipment or apparatus. They are intended to increase body strength and flexibility with movements such as bending, jumping, swinging, twisting or kicking, using only one's body weight for resistance. They are usually conducted in concert with stretches (or Coaches). Calisthenics when performed vigorously and with variety can benefit both muscular and cardiovascular fitness, in addition to improving psychomotor skills such as balance, agility and coordination.

Groups such as sports teams and military units often perform leader(coach)-directed group calisthenics as a form of synchronized physical training (often including a customized "call and response" routine) to increase group cohesion and discipline. Calisthenics are also popular as a component of physical education in primary and secondary schools (and SEC football teams) over much of the globe.

Pretty sure it's impossible to act like a damn rock after you score a touchdown in front of 100,000+ screaming fans. Let's not forget these are KIDS.

You should educate yourself a bit before being a smartazz. Your calisthenics,
stretching, and plyometrics (even when coach-directed), cannot reduce the risk of serious ligament damage and tears. I don't really fall on either side of this spat, but come on...

Some of yall are just ridiculous. I never said the players can't celebrate after a TD in front of 100k crowd etc. Seriously some of yalls reading comprehension is worse than my 7 year nephews. Just said that this type of celebration has caused injury so it needs to be stopped. I don't care how many stupid jumping jacks they did before the game. Seriously some of yall r just plain dumb.

I was actually at least partially in your corner, against the argument that a good stretching and warmup routine makes players bulletproof.

Ha!! I know. It wasnt directed to u and I was a bit drunk when I wrote that. Just hate the "ur an old fart" type thing if u don't agree. Celbrate with high fives, butt slapping, slapping the helmets, good overall encouragement etc etc etc. But this type of celebration has irked me since watching Chaney doing it on the sidelines. The potential for injury is there, and a coach still needs to maintain a level of professionalism imo.
