Butch Jones grants fan's wish

to be direct, Butch has reunited this fed up fan base and has already healed a broken locker room.
Wins of course have to come. You gotta believe they will. Wish we could be in the big 9 or whatever for a year just to see a 6 win SEC team make a run at 9-10 wins but it is what it is. I just hope people can keep perspective as we stumble this year. It's not a video game and this grave was deep and multiple that they are trying to dig out of. They aren't mistake free and the qb's wont be either so give them a little breathing room and enjoy what's headed our way.

"Minutes into their conversation, Ray revealed a custom fishing pole with a personalized message inscribed to Jones from the Guthrie family expressing their gratitude for the previous meeting.
With tears in his eyes, Jones insists that Ray report to him after upcoming surgery and will be welcome back at the Tennessee facility any time. He then looked Ray in the eyes and told him, “You have absolutely made my day.”

Be damned if that didn't tear me up a little. We are lucky as hell to have a coach the caliber of Butch.

Butch Jones is everything that is right about college football.

You know....I'd dare opposing fans to try to say something negative about him. No, he hasn't gotten the results on the field just yet, but good luck trying to find anything negative about his character and the way he handles himself and his program. He is an absolute stand up guy.

He makes me proud to be a Vol.

Proud to have CBJ represent my University. He genuinely seems to be a good, caring, ethical man that has mended some tough broken relationships already. Now, just win, baby.

My only concern is that an opening elsewhere will be offered to bUTch, such as Michigan or Florida and he will take it. Otherwise, I know we will be in contention for the NCAA Championship before long.

This sounds like flashback to UGA / LSU are gonna come get Dooley after he starts winning. There's plenty of time to worry. No need rushing it.

CBJ has a LONG way to go before we call him General, but IMO he is awfully close to the rank of Captain Butch Jones, or CBJ.

Wow. Great story OP. And hits home too.

I was diagnosed w exact same cancer this summer in a routine physical. Tough 50th bday present. Only mine was stage 1 and surgery "got it all". Had the doc not noticed it on my leg, next year I would probably be exactly where this guy is. MM is super fast spreading and lethal.

Thankful for myself. But, it's given me a lot more sympathy for the folks like this @ nearly incurable stage 4. Praying that he stomps this stuff in the ground and survives to see the Vols for 25 more years!

Class act by Jones to bring this man in like this.

Everyone should apply sunscreen and wear a hat with four inch brim prior to sun exposure. A baseball cap doesn't protect the face, neck, or ears, I have friends that have all three types of skin cancers removed from those areas. Be smart and be safe. :hi:

Mr. Guthrie, Butch signed a football for my brother who also was diagnosed with stage four melanoma. He was given 6-9 months to live. That was a year and a half ago, and my brother is still here. Get yourself to Moffett Cancer Center in Tampa Florida. It is a research institute that is doing amazing things with melanoma. My brother's cancer has shrunk to the point that it is almost nonexistent. They think they have killed the cancer and he is doing great. Hope this helps. God bless you sir, Go Vols, and may you have many more years to enjoy the Vols.

I was completely wrong about CBJ on the initial hire. We are Tennessee, we can do better.

However, Tennessee got who we needed and not who we wanted. CBJ is just like a 3* recruit who has something to prove. I am happy he is our coach and proud he is our leader.

For all of the things that are wrong with college football......CBJ is what is right.
