Butch Jones has a low football IQ

Here comes the fire butch mob. HE HAD TO COMPLETELY REBUILD A PROGRAM!!! Same results next year and then I will agree. 2016 has been our year for success since the beginning, NOT 15'!!! By the way, the season has just begun and how many of you seriously had us beating Okie this year, at the end of last years game against them? We can still easily be a 9-3 team this year!!!!

How many years we gonna say this? Where was Saban 3rd year in?

How bout Urban Meyer?

Dude, big coaches know how to get the best out of what they got and Butch has quite a bit. These players deserve better. I mean come on....Mike Debord??? Really??? Debord had no answer and even looked completely lost.

I certainly wouldn't have invited recruits to this game, in hindsight. Any prospective player that understands Offensive play calling has to be moving UT down on their list, if not off of it entirely.

I'm getting too old to waste my time on this $h!+ anymore. I'll catch the highlights on ESPN if I hear they win a game of significant importance. Other than that, I once again reserve my Saturday's for something more meaningful than this garbage we saw tonight.

I don't anticipate that happening in my life time

"Meanwhile, the Vols are now 2-30 against ranked teams since Phil Fulmer left in 2009"

Hiring his buddy from Michigan is his downfall --- thats the crap politicans do

This x 1000. There's a reason Debord was in the coachin unemployment line for 2 years before Jones hired him. We are seeing that first hand starting with this game. Jones ended his career at UT with the Debord hire. He'll have to let him go after a 6-6 season, and next year Jones will be gone as well.

He's a great recruiter, and a fantastic "coach-speaker", but he is terrible at game day coaching, and even worse at evaluation his assistants.

This loss has nothing to do with talent, or youth, this was purely poor coaching and poor game plan, and any other SEC coaching staff barring Derek Mason's would have trounced OK with the talent was have on this team.

Butch sucks man. Sorry but the evidence is all there.

We are playing at home with a rabid packed house against a very good team. It's been forever since we won a big game like this. First quarter we kick a FG from the one yard line.

I have defended Butch many times on his game decisions but I can't ignore it any longer. Butch is great at a lot of things but actual coaching isn't one of them.

Would u ppl please stop with the fire butch shiz, it is non deserving on his part thus far, IMO!?! If we have another 6-6, 7-5 season, then we can start having those discussions. We are already limping out the gate because of all the injuries and we were up 2 TD's with 11 mins left and we lost, shiz happens and I about broke my TV, but our season is just getting started! Jumper has to go at MLB though!!! He cost us TWO defensive 3rd down conversions and imo that is what cost us the game.

17-3 going into the bottom half of the 4th quarter and we blow it. We set into a conservative run x 2 up the middle throw/option x1 from the 2nd quarter onward.

This was a coaching choice failure on a level rarely seen in college football.

Look: The first problem was that our blocking broke down after the first quarter. They were bringing people and we could not get them blocked. We gained 50 yards on the first two plays of the second half--and then I'm not sure we gained 20 yards the rest of the game. We had SO many negative 1st down plays in the second half--at least half a dozen or close to it. OU has a very good defense; you can't handicap yourself with negative first down plays.

Second: It was obvious in the Bowling Green game that our passing game was still shaky--and I said after that game that if the passing game doesn't get better we are going to have problems because you just can't run it on good defenses. Well, the passing game stunk tonight and it's the reason we lost.

Third: The play-calling and the execution were terrible. DeBord was bad. Not creative enough, and not enough short, quick passes; no misdirection. We suxed. Pig Howard did NOT catch a pass until OT--our most reliable receiver had one catch for the game. Pearson--1 catch. North--1 catch. TE: did he have more than one catch? Ellis drops a TD pass that probably would have won the game. I said multiple times during the game that we need to get Kamara out of the backfield and throw him the ball: I think we did that 1 time--again, in OT! So in OT we started to do what we should have done all game. Dobbs was not good--but he was under a TON of pressure for most of the game and I don't think our receivers are very good at getting open. But that is another reason why you must THROW short. Get the ball to Howard and Kamara and let them try to break a tackle and get 5-7 yards. That would sure beat losing 5 yards on first down. We played a pretty good offensive first quarter and then just imploded. The offensive line played like they did last year--but it's also true that DeBord needs to find plays that gain yardage, plays that counter what the opponent is doing. And he did not do that.

Did anyone in their right mind think DeBord would be anything but bad? He hasn't coached since the single wing was popular..

That's where I'm at. Butch would be an excellent AD, but tonight proved to me that the actual coaching between the lines is not his strong suit. The fact that he's got Debord as his OC should have told me that, but I was still optimistic.

It's sad - I started today fully behind Butch but after this game, I saw enough to push me over the line. We tried nothing different until OT, and by then the D was gassed and couldn't make a stop.

He's some advice to all of you complaining about butch. Go sign out of damn volnation and come back next week. We were up 17-3. Obviously he was doing something right. Comebacks happen.. Butch can't control poor tackling and play the whole damn game for us. WERE YOUNG. Get that through your heads. You guys always complain about everything and we've came a long way. We won't be w national championship over night. Go to bed. See yall next week.

I'll agree that Debord was a bad hire and it was a huge mistake and I was proven right. But the real problem is that were just to young and there's not enough true leadership. When things turned bad there was no-one out there trying to pump up our guys. We also aren't deep enough. Yes our 1s are some of the best and even a couple of the 2s but the guys behind them aren't that great. Some just need time to develop.

We were the lower ranked team and even with our talent there was a reason for that and it's not all coaching. Heck how many top teams lose a close game to a tough opponent each year, all but one or two. I'll see how the Florida game goes before I make a judgement on cbj abilities as a coach. Oh and at least we didn't get beat by Toledo after way too much off-season hype saying we're returning to the top. We lost to a more senior team that has had a lot more experience on the roster handling expectations and playing in big games in the spotlight and most on this board considered a loss in a 9-3/8-4 season. Anyone who truly expected more than 8 wins, 9 if things bounced our way, was just refusing to see without their orange glasses on and were just setting themselves up for disappointment. We can still win the east, but a playoff shot was just a dream.

Yeah I'm sure it's been beaten to death, but why in the world do you go power with Kamara instead of Hurd when it's 3rd and 1 on the goal line??

I was completely thinking the same thing. Kamara is fast but isn't a power back. Things like that have eroded my confidence in the coaching staff.

Our passing. blocking and coaching need improvement. **** what happened tonight this is BS. Our players and fans deserve so much more than what we got tonight. We can't keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Something has to give. Now excuse me while I sleep off these mountain dews. GBO

We've come a long way. Butch has been great for the program. But even you have to admit that after we went up 17-3, the coaching staff just laid down. Our Defense isn't stout enough to be on that field for as long as they were and not wear down. The offensive play calling was atrocious and there's no excuse for that. No slants, no misdirection, nothing.... It was clear OK had figured out how to shut down our game plan and we did nothing - absolutely nothing - to adjust.

I will take a loss if we left everything on the field, but as far as I can tell, the only ones playing their hearts out were the Defense (for the most part).

Football is a game of adjustments. It's like a chess match. Stoops adjusted to us on both sides of the ball. That's what good coaches do. They figure things out and even expose a weakness. Tell me, against the great minds of coaching, who has Butch Jones outwitted? That tired SC team from last year? Come on guys!
