We are so lucky that Butch is being given all the tools he needs to get us back where we belong.

UT will soon have among the best practice fields in the country, something CBJ believes will pay huge dividends for the program in the years to come

"I call it our teaching laboratory," Jones said. "Whether it’s your classroom setting or your team room, having the best audio-visual devices that you can have, having the equipment that’s needed to teach. We’re teachers.

Preach on coach....

“It’s monumental," Tennessee head coach Butch Jones told The Daily Times this week. "That’s where your team is born."

But according to VN we are broke and can't pay a big name to coach here. Right......

We are broke because at the moment, we seem to be paying coaches that don't coach here anymore and have been doing so since 2008 with going any return. Donors want there dollars spent wisely hence practice facilility. Build it they will come but make sure the coaching hire knows how to use the assets wisely, can sell the facilities to the recruits and knows how to coach Em up.

We don't need a football coach. We got Butch. This man and his coaches can recruit with the big boys. He is getting Tennessee back, you will see. Butch is bringing in top recruiting classes and we have not been winning. It will start to turn around this year, then by next year we will be at the top of the SEC east. Then you watch Butch he will be bringing in the 5 star players for you star watchers. And your thing about a big name coach, none of them wanted to take on the job of rebuilding and putting in the hard work they would of had to put in football and basketball team. The guys we have now was willing to put in the work and rebuild UT. I think Donnie will be a good coach for basketball also. He will bring in players that like his style of play. Going to be more exciting to watch UT basketball. And I think one more plus for Tennessee will be switching to Nike. We have our coaches so people need to get behind them and stop being negative. :good!::rock::clapping:

We get articles like this:

At Tennessee, Big Orange battles red ink - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global

and this:

UT's athletics department hopes to break even after contending with $4 million deficit a year ago » GoVolsXtra

and rumors that our last two coaching searches were affected by the financial situation. It seems curious that an upgrade like this was announced just a year or so after a huge training facility was completed. I am getting mixed messages.

Uggg....I accidentally hit the like button when I absolutely did not like this comment. I'm glad the poster is so familiar with the balance sheet of the athletic department to call for huge new expenditures. Hell, obviously Tennessee should spend at the top of the SEC in salaries for all coaches in all sports. But, Hart is playing out some bizarre conspiracy where he wants us to lose. Or..maybe..he's actually the adult in the room living in the.real world and working towards long term viability. This is tough on the instant gratification crowd.

We can't afford to spend as much as Auburn pays for a basketball coach (at a school where no one cares about basketball).

But hey, look! We're in the running for a practice field national championship.

We offered big names and Dave Hart came out and said he was free to spend what he needed. Its just that no one wanted to come here. We can't just write a check and hire whoever we want.

We chose not to spend $2mil+ on a bball coach because we simply do not value that program to the level we do football which brings in 92% of the AD revenue. We never have gone after the big name splash hires for bball and it kinda appears we never will. It's just not the philosophy that our university's Athletic Dept embraces IMO, no matter who the AD or University president is.

Pretty sure things get built on donation, not reserves. People put their money where they want. Want a higher paid coach? Donate some millions toward it.

Nice article, but I am looking more forward to SEC wins on the football field than who has the best practice fields.

Please qualify that statement , Tennessee is 2nd to none in facilities and athlete support. Hart simply didn't want to lay down $5M for a "big name" coach, don't care what he said. :twocents:

So despite what both boosters and the AD said, you stick to that? Allsome.

You're why people don't want to come here.

Lol you want us to pay 5 mil for basketball coach? How much does the football coach make? Has any coach at UT ever been paid 5 mil a year?
