:good!: at least we'll be the best in something again. I just hope it translates into W's on the field.

We are broke because at the moment, we seem to be paying coaches that don't coach here anymore and have been doing so since 2008 with going any return. Donors want there dollars spent wisely hence practice facilility. Build it they will come but make sure the coaching hire knows how to use the assets wisely, can sell the facilities to the recruits and knows how to coach Em up.

We have paid out a lot of money to coaches in the past.... thanks Hamilton! But for 25 or 30 years the UTAD has given the academic side of UT $6 million a year. If we had not of been doing that we would also have 100-125 million Dollars in reserve so it's all good.

So CBJ has 2 yrs to sell it to recruits. Hope these new big time additions don't become a UT HCs curse. Sell it, but never get to use it....

Lol you want us to pay 5 mil for basketball coach? How much does the football coach make? Has any coach at UT ever been paid 5 mil a year?

Nope , basketball doesn't generate enough revenue to pay a coach that kinda money. Football does generate the revenue to justify a $5M coaching salary.

and we were ready and offering those kind of salaries to coaches that warranted that kind of salary. They said no. ANd then no again. And then no again. So Hart moved on.

Stability is the most overrated concept on this board. I'm sure Alabama is sorry they didn't maintain stability by keeping Mike Shula. Or FSU with Bowden. Or Auburn with Chizik. Stability means nothing unless you have a coach and a staff who can out-coach and out-recruit most everyone else. Butch Jones has had one good recruiting class. He has had one game where he has out-coached someone. We need to see much more of that before we start worrying about stability.

You are over simplifying the situation by comparing Tennessee to those schools. Their conditions WERE NOT the condition Tennessee has been in AND IS NOW IN. In fact, you're building a 'straw man' with those references just so you can set it on fire. Basic Logical Fallacy 101. You shouldn't rant like that if you want credence.

I will agree with you the coaches have to be good in practice and on game day, which is of course a given ... duh! But that's all.

Tessessee has had so much instability, across the board, it's been a bad DECADE.

A stable PROGRAM, which, yes ... by the way includes good facilities, recruiting and coaching; is what we need. But, I don't care what anyone thinks, without recruiting players who have the inate physical abilities along with the intelligence to understand the schemes and buy in to what the coach wants, you're pizzeling in the wind. Good recruiting and coaching up thse recruits. Stability helps get there. Recruits believing their coach will be there.

I beieve that Coach Jones will have UT at least top 15 in 3 years. Give the man time and be patient. If this team is at least 6-6 this season, it's not bad. Hoping for better though. As far as basketbnall, patience there too for for men and women. As long as the Lady Vols are getting top recruits we can be competitive. I expected an "elite 8" this season. It's all what is called "motivation & will!"

Yeah, I'm sure recruiting will go really well with a "stable" coaching staff that struggles to post a winning season year after year.

“It’s monumental," Tennessee head coach Butch Jones told The Daily Times this week. "That’s where your team is born."

I'm just glad he didn't say "That's where your team is conceived".

Are you mad your first choice for coach didn't take the job? So far CBJ has done great in recruiting, well .. better than great considering; he beat The Ol' Ball Coach his first year here with a team cobbled together. I guess you think throwing money at a problem will fix it. Hamiltons approach is still throwing money away and he's been gone these few years now. As are Kiffin and Dooley. Dooley, who's still gettin' money thrown at him. You look at Bamma and Auburn and say, why can't we be like them? Well, we aren't like them from the get go.

And, except for their first year here when they took over a mish mash, this 'stable' coaching staff has posted winning seasons.

I thought the facilities we had under Phil worked pretty well;do we really need 3+ full length practice fields..all with excellent turf Im assuming???
