Come on man, really? Calipari is the most corrupt bball coach in the game. And while he hasn't directly been punished, his teams have - and he got the heck out of dodge. That makes him WAY worse in my book. Pearl didn't deserve the punishment he was dealt.

So you would turn down the Kentucky job to stay at Memphis? Or is it the choice of the New Jersey Nets over the UMass Minutemen that you find baffling?

Since this is a Butch thread, I'll only say one more thing about Pearl... We would've been dancing this year and last with him. So what if he lied? There were people on here that would've given anything to hire Bobby Petrino. As for Butch, I haven't really seen a coach like him honestly. I think I remember reading that at Cincy, he only had one 4 star recruit ever sign there, and his records spoke for themselves.

We have 4 star talent across the board on both sides of the ball. We have 2 incredibly talented RB's that are going to be running behind the best OL in the SEC this year. I think we will win some games that absolutely shock people this year.

Furthermore, I don't think our defense is that slow. I just think that Sal was that bad at teaching them to be in position. I wouldn't be surprised with 8 wins this year. In 2014, I'm expecting 10 plus. Just ask yourself this... If CBJ had equal talent in the game where we beat Cincy last year, do you think we would've still won? Heck no, they would've run us out of Neyland.

With regard to Jones, I hope he doesn't lie his way into a show-cause. But, he's doing well recruiting. There are a lot of other good recruiters I would rather compare him to than Pearl.

Coach Jones, on the other hand, makes me feel a lot of confidence (which I struggle to keep under control due to how many times we've been burned in the last 5-6 years). They guy really seems like he knows the game and has a vision. Dooley, god bless him, just never seemed like he had it together. He didn't inspire confidence and it sure as heck never looked like he really knew the ins and outs of the game in the way that Jones seemingly does.

Plus, I can't ever see Coach Jones talking about "showering discipline" at a press conference. Man, was that embarrassing. Here's to those days being LOOOOONG behind us! Go Vols!

Pearls teams played well above the talent level.if he were here UT would be a number one seed year in and out with that style of running up and down the floor.UT was on the cusp of getting top 10 clases and i think it would have been yearly.and with the talentof a memphis or ky at UT under pearl they would have played over their head to.and with the best talent at UT in forever .pearl would have been to a few final fours and if he had coached at UT fo r6 or 7 more years UT would have won a ncaa tital.but i also like ccm he just needs to get better talent a real pg with hubbs and mcrae and maymon and stokes and another good shooter and we will get there

Not really. Kiffin was pretty clear from the beginning that our traditions didn't matter to him and his stay here was all business. Pearl pretended like this was his dream destination, which is why so many people here worship him.
