I get what he's trying to say, but I honestly have to say im not impressed with this. I was hoping for more. He sounds like he's happy we squeaked it out and gives too much credit to how good the other team is coached... Come on man.

I was impressed by Jones's post-game remarks. He was positive, and that's a good thing, while still making it clear that he expects better. Liked what he said about winning a game that got tight late, winning despite adversity in second half. Good point.

I trust Butch Jones way more than the legion of dumbarses in here. "The power of second guessing...."

There were some positives today and many negatives.

I think he keeps it positive because he has a team that is not very good and beaten down emotionally. This isnt the kind of team that will respond well to criticism.

I still have to see what he can do with his players after they have had about 3 years in his system. These guys are all still new to it including the Seniors and Butch just does not have a QB. On the bright side, Croom showed up today and looks like he is getting better. The running backs played well. Our D will get torched by GA, SC, BAMA, and Auburn unless a miracle happens. Two more good recruiting classes will get us there. Not much the coaches can do when the players cannot execute.

I don't want to start another perfunctory and rote thread, but I want some feedback on this.

What is the quote or saying that a great coach adjusts to the players he has?

If the offensive line is one of the best in the country, which I believe they are, and we do not have a mobile quarterback, then why don't we get rid of the read option?

Worley has kept one time. The offense is not fooling anyone. Why don't we setup in an I formation and pound the rock? Our running backs have produced and it seems our line can get a push.

I posted it 5 minutes before this thread in a different thread and I did not post it immediately when it went up on YT. It is very possible he did have time to watch the whole thing.

I guess Butch wants to get his system implemented no matter what. The only way to do it is to run the system at all costs.

What about implementing some different sets in the system?

To be honest fellas, if I hadn't watched the game, I could not have told whether we won or lost this game. I think Butch is one of those guys who is camera friendly and sun shiny, but when he leaves the cameras, he is on the team. I like that.

May work, I don't know. I don't know enough to make any coaching suggestions. It just seems like he is trying to get them to do it his way. My hope is that this will pay dividends over the next couple of years.

I'm sure some of those run plays are gives all the way. Believe me I understand the frustration of folks that only see one run play, but you can block those shotgun runs many ways.

I'm tired of hearing our offensive line is best in the sec. They haven't played like it. Wideouts can't always get open. QB can't always get them the ball. RBs aren't explosive. It is what it is folks. We are just ok.

The defense is just not fast enough.

Temper those expectations boys & girls.

What have you seen in the last two years that leads you to believe we have one of the best OL in the country

How can anyone justify him drilling his players and being upset after a win? Bottom line is a W and they are 3-2. On to the next week now. He probably isn't happy how USA came back, but it was a win. As fans, do your job and be fans.

*Tennessee returns four starters from a line that allowed only eight sacks last season.

*The Vols rushed for 160.3 yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry last year, significant increases from their 2011 averages of 90.1 yards per game and 2.8 yards per carry.

As many games as they have played together and the fact that four of the five were named to All-SEC team (preseason).

I would hope they are one of the best OL's in the country.

I am proud to have this man as the UT coach. Despite a rough game, he did not throw one player under the bus like his predecessor did every week.
We have to look for improvement from week to week. And we saw some. Not as much as anyone would like, but there were points of improvement.

Derek Dooley got up on the podium many times talking about how poor the team was, saying all the things we on this message board were saying. It didn't work.

Pretending like Butch Jones doesn't know his team has to play better is just asinine. He's not stupid. I think there is room to criticize the coaches, but criticizing the post game is a little silly.

I had watched it before this thread was made. It was even posted somewhere else here before this was made.
