Butch Jones - South Alabama Postgame (9/28/13)

Derek Dooley got up on the podium many times talking about how poor the team was, saying all the things we on this message board were saying. It didn't work.

Pretending like Butch Jones doesn't know his team has to play better is just asinine. He's not stupid. I think there is room to criticize the coaches, but criticizing the post game is a little silly.

Easy on the logic.

Different teams respond to different types of coaching. Apparently Butch thinks this team needs some encouragement. After all these players have been through I'm not sure the "I'm gonna break my foot off in your John Brown hind parts" speech would work right now with the way things have gone

I don't want to start another perfunctory and rote thread, but I want some feedback on this.

What is the quote or saying that a great coach adjusts to the players he has?

If the offensive line is one of the best in the country, which I believe they are, and we do not have a mobile quarterback, then why don't we get rid of the read option?

Worley has kept one time. The offense is not fooling anyone. Why don't we setup in an I formation and pound the rock? Our running backs have produced and it seems our line can get a push.

And the I formation would fool everyone?..What world you living in?...This isn't 1998..We do not have the talent to pound the rock in the I formation...We tried that for years and it didn't produce...Time to get with today's brand of football....Give it time, this offense will be a lot of fun to watch soon.

This is a fragile team.

He kept repeating "we found a way to win the football game."

I'm not sure I want them trying to "find" a way to win against a team of USA's talent. I want this team to go out and completely Hulk smash this level of opposition and go out with their heads held high. I would support those comments if we "found a way to win" against Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina, but not South Alabama.

I am glad he is remaining positive with the players and not dragging them through the dirt despite some poor performances. At least in public.

Team still has a long road ahead of them and it really showed today.

^^ This. I think the players are intelligent enough to know they all need to get better. I respect CBJ for finding the positives out of the situation and not name dropping.

What do you want him to do? Have a tantrum? He's classier than Dooley. Not that it takes much, but I get the impression he's the kind of guy to discipline his players in practice rather than slander them at a presser.

To be honest fellas, if I hadn't watched the game, I could not have told whether we won or lost this game. I think Butch is one of those guys who is camera friendly and sun shiny, but when he leaves the cameras, he is on the team. I like that.

I don't like that at all. I don't want a flip floppy politician for a QB or a person who is one thing in public and another behind closed doors.

I wouldn't date a girl who is loyal in person but a cheater when nobody is around, why want a coach who is only happy and nice to the cameras but not when its just his team? Sends a false message to both.

Are you serious? It is completely not the same.

What do you want? This guy? So we can get more negative attention.

Coach Kevin Borseth Explodes! - FULL VERSION - - YouTube

Butch has lit a fire underneath the arses these guys. I see the attitude since game 1. It is a process. Unlike Dooley, this is going to be a saying that is going to be said a lot, but it works. I wasn't a Butch supporter, but he is by far the best, opposite coach for these kids compared to Dooley. It is going to take time.
