They are very very weak program bub. I live like 50 miles from their campus. No liesThey’ve been an FCS school for over a decade. Even have multiple playoff trips. Why do you constantly resort to lie so often to bash Butch? The ability to bash Butch literally writes itself. You don’t have to keep making stuff up
They choked two games away (Oklahoma and Florida), but clearly the most competitive team that Tennessee has had since Fulmer was fired was in 2015. They had a realistic chance to win every game in the 4th quarter. They could hold their own with anyone at the line of scrimmage (even Alabama), and even had some playmakers. For a brief period of time, it looked like Butch would make it, but damn he fell off the cliff fast... and it's hard not to hold Trevor Lawrence and Tee Higgins against him. They should have been Vols.I don’t like the guy but he was better than Pruitt.

Butch had flaws (hiring an OC to run his outdated offense being the biggest) but I always wonder if we don’t blow Oklahoma and Florida if it works here for Butch. That team goes 10-2 (and id argue beats Arkansas if they don’t blow the Florida game) and faces Bama (who we lost to in the final minutes at Tuscaloosa) in the SEC title game. We get a NY6 bowl…idk maybe it still all goes to hell but it makes we wonder.
If that happened and especially if the next season we don't choke against SC and Vandy and then he's likely still the coach right now, or at the least gets through 2020. Even if we had the same 2017 season he wouldn't have been canned.
The problem was he was way too stubborn about his offense. He thought it was some elite offensive scheme that could fit with any players and it couldn't. He should have embraced the running aspect and always have a running QB. That and the lack of player development was his downfall.
Overall though Butch was much, much better than Dooley and Pruitt.
