Butch needs to own up on this one just to maintain his credibility

What a pathetic performance from a team striving for bowl eligibility.This one starts right at the top.Whomever made the decision to have Dobbs play without taking more shots at downfield passes until the last 16 seconds should be gone tonight.It actually seemed that the Vols were playing a quarterback with a shoulder injury until then.No offensive plays called that everyone playing and watching did not know were coming.Offensive line play was okay,but one would think that more inspired play should have come from the bunch that has been touted for four years to be among the best in the SEC.I have now joined the Josh Smith detractors,he just can't catch the ball.Running backs played hard,but it's hard to run with nine defenders in the box.The offense was handicapped by inept play calling.Michael Palardy seemed to revert to last year.Does he have a sore leg? Defense played opportunistic football,well enough to win,but the woes on offense really did the Vols in tonight.Some years ago,I spent some working years surrounded by Vandy fans who were always spouting off about how good their players and team were, even though they were winning very few games.Now it seems that Vol fans have taken the same tact.I have been a Vol fan for over fifty years through good and bad years and coaches and truth always comes out.This is not a team that we can count on to compete with top level teams on a consistent basis.We need to recognize that and support the rebuilding of a program that has been sucker punched over the last several years by the school administration,by bad decisions,by bad coaches,and by subpar recruiting.No more sunshine,lollipops and rainbows,just a concerted effort to reclaim our status in the football world.Again, just a poor performance with status on the line.
