It would be even better if Butch could work it out with the emergency management services to let the kid's house burn if he commits elsewhere. It'll only takie one total louse of house and home, and CBJ will never lose another in state kid.

This is worse than the Sumlin thread and I agree with you sometimes.

..."Maybe you don't feel a certain loyalty to your state (TN). Maybe you don't have an affinity for it. But consider this...when your house is on fire, who comes to put it out? When you have a home break-in or an emergency out in public, who do you call? Tennesseans. Tennessee Policemen and Firemen. Not public servants from Mississipi or Arkansas, or Alabama. Hard working Tennesseans are footing the bill, and that includes your parents.

When your mom and dad are trying to run a local business, who is coming in to buy their goods or services? Tennesseans. All your friends you have grown up with...they are Tennesseans. Do you suppose, in Europe, there is some German, French or British pride? Sure there is. They are what Tennessee is...a sovereign state joined by a union. Why then should you have no pride in the state you grew up in? And if you do have pride, why not show it by representing your state on the Big Stage?"

This goes for the Nashville kids, too. The Jalen Ramsey's and Itavius Mathers'.

Not a bad way to make a pitch. WE need more of our thin instate product to help. Those Memphians at Bama make me sick.

That sounds an awful lot like the attitude of a slave owner. No one owes this school a damn thing just because they live in Tennessee. It is a choice, and attitudes like the one you stated there would drive any sane person away. Plus, if loyalty and pride are what you are really getting at, the city of Memphis has its own state university.

Or you could just invite 'em down to the local Wal-Mart to see the national championship trophy... It's worked three of the last four years... Wait...nvm...

I'tavius Mathers is one of the nicest and most respectful kids you will ever meet. Maybe if Fulmer & Dooley were worth a darn at recruiting Tennessee and its high school coaches, they might have landed the kid.

Do I need to check with you and show my papers before I cross the border to another state?

Or you can just tell them you love them, or that you had a dream about them, or that God told you to coach them.

Those seem to work, too.

Forget it, VOLorNuttin. First of all that message won't register in the kids' head. It's a different time now than it was in, oh say, 1955. If anything message at all should go out it should first be to East Tennesseans who look down their nose at Memphis and its people. Then whine about the best players from there going elsewhere to play.

This is worse than just about every thread. It's the same argument your parents use to guilt you into going to visit your dying Great Aunt. Just an awful way to try and sell a program.

Dude, you have lost your mind if that's what you took away. What does owning slaves have to do with any of this? The idea of having pride? Are you saying that since Tennessee is a southern state it can have no pride because some people in Tennessee owned a slave? Your thought process is odd my man. No one is guilty of another man's sins.
