Dad was fond of the saying "a boat is a whole in the water surrounded by wood into which you pour money."

Not a naysayer, just quoting an old funny from my Dad.

Good luck and hope it you enjoy it!

B - break
O - out
A - another
T - thousand

Thanks everyone for the input and comments good to see fellow boaters/anglers.

Just got home from slaying the bass this morning.

Shady Cove is on the opposite end of the lake from there, it's up by Bledsoe Creek State Park. We go up to Sams 3-4 times a year, do a run up to Anchor High every now and then but mostly we'll go to Gallatin Marina for dinner when on the lake.

I prefer that end of the lake myself. I used to launch at Flipper's right off of 109 and go up past the steam plant. There's not much boat traffic up there even on the weekend and the water is cooler.

Is that a center console Carolina skiff type boat? My father in law has a 16' with a 40hp that's been out once. I think I'm about to start using it.

Do it! I love those little boats like that. Go any damn where. I'll take one over a 300hp mega bass rig any day.

Is Cherokee steak house still around? Probably been 30 years since I've even thought about it. Blast from the past.

Great looking fish..... do the bass tend to be that dark down there?

Yea the water clarity tends to be a lot darker with the majority of the fresh water in the glades coming from big lake O...bottom is mostly muck with lots of lily pads and sawgrass

It's actually a 12 ft Carolina skiff with a 15hp ...my buddies little boat...great for duck hunting and getting in the shallow water...not great trying to out run a storm or get to a fishing spot as it takes a long time to get from place to place haha

I'll pass along two things about boats if you've never owned one.
1. The happiest two days of a boat owner are the day he buys it and the day he sells it.
2. The term boating bucks/dollars. Bring Out Another Thousand.

Boats are a labor of love, find something you want and enjoy it. You have to work on them all of the time and spend a lot of money to enjoy them. The more you can do yourself the less boat dollars it will cost you.
Big difference in recreational boating and sport.

Still there and still busy as heck every weekend.

Good to hear. I'm originally from White House and I remember my parents taking me there as a kid. Went there for prom dinner my Jr. Year.

The guide that took us Bull Red fishing in Destin had a sweet little Hell's Bay. It was perfect for the flats and the bay - planes super east and can handle crazy shallow water.

Of course they ain't cheap...

White House? McDad is a White House boy...... and I've got several cousins that grew up there.
