Buying New Tires

You guys are giving me so much to think about here.

I always thought my tires on my truck looked smallish for a Z71. I don't want gigantic tires or a jacked up suspension, but I was interested in getting a good tire that looked like it was more of a 'fit' for my truck, if that makes sense?

Decisions, decisions.

someone mentioned earlier to check the forums. I guarantee every option you are considering has been discussed to death (with pictures) in some forum. Try your truck model + forum and have at it.

Also, Google search for images of z71s and use the sizes you are considering as a search term.

You obviously have never "worked" a truck. Most OEM parts are junk. Where ever they get the cheapest bid to provide that part. My stuff breaks, it gets upgraded to a higher quality product. Do you know why?
I don't want it to break again.

I do like your choices on oil and plugs though.

I guess trucks are different animal. Aftermarket might be designed better because things break - trial and error and all.

Civics and Accords shouldn't take a truck beatin'.

Hankook or Dunlop. If you keep your truck clean they shine the best.

I wouldn't recommend going bigger on the tire unless you go with a bigger rim.

I disagree but it ain't my truck. I've gone plus zero on almost every vehicle I've owned (that I bought new tires for) and was never sorry I did.

Yea it is all about personal preference. I know when I put bigger tires on my ford it wanted to roll over on the tires. Ofcourse they were 8 ply, so I went to ten and it fixed the rolling problem.

Go with a 265/75. You can even go to a 285/75 if you want. They might rub a little at full lock but won't hurt anything.

At my current employer ( I'm changing jobs) we have about 20 trucks. Half ford and half chevy. All of them run 265/75 series tires.

I've eye balled them. I like the looks of them. Just no experience with this tire. have you run them before?


I couldn't ever sell a lot of the Kumho truck tires, mainly because people shopping truck tires were normally crazily brand loyal to more established brands (Bridgestone/Goodyear/Michelin). I had a few that recoiled at the notion of putting a 'foreign sounding brand' on their truck, but those were few and far between.

I'd estimate I sold around a half dozen sets of their M/T tires and only had one come back. It was for a "noise" complaint (which was mainly due to the fact the guy had never had any sort of true truck tire on his Jeep).

I got a set put on a cousin's Silverado and he was pretty happy with them as far as ride, sound, and wear go. Granted, he's not the type to really work a set of tires, but they did fine. He was pleased.
