They need to stay in 12 personnel and force the team to change their defensive formation. CJH is allowing the defense to force his hand instead of the other way around.

It's an interesting matchup: weakness (UT offense) vs weakness (Bama D) and strength (UT D) vs strength (Bama offense). Nervous as usual but looking forward to the game.

Both teams have looked completely different during their last two games. It would be interesting to see a stat comparison going back only the last two weeks.
It would be very interesting to see a stat comparison against P4 competition only.

like it did in the Florida game... we just have to find a way to score

it's wild in 2022 we kept saying if only we had a defense, we'd beat everyone... and now we have a defense and well....
I watched a film study today..and I know its been echoed here but the left tackle doesn't seem to know whats going on.

Edwin Spillmam would be great.im this role, but the staff seems to be waiting until next year to unleash him.

I think Arian Carter can sort of keep up. He has the athetic build to do so.
Sort of keep up might not get it done. We need to work all week on keeping him in the pocket....if we can do that, we win.

I heard on the radio this morning that the Neyland loudspeakers played some kind of "spooky" version of Rocky Top on third down, but no one could hear it because it was too loud lol.
On the highlights I heard it even from upper deck i didn't if this is about the Florida game

I believe that Milroe will run all over us 10-12 yards at a time. I am not sure we have a spy fast enough and strong enough to keep him in check.
I don't know about that. Milroe only gained 10 yards on 7 attempts against Vandy with 3 sacks, one of which was a turnover. Their OL is suspect and we should be able to pressure him well. Then, in comes the backup.

You realize he and Carter have similar forty times. Carter ran hurdles in high school as well. Both are freaky athletic. Milroe definitely can make issues but Vandy kept him contained and Carter is better than anyone they had defensively. Our secondary I love but I will say this is a bigger test than any they’ve had to this point. We can limit Milroe on the ground and still have issues. I do agree with the sentiment of your post though, keep them one dimensional and good things will happen.

Sacks take away from rushing yards....and that 14 yard long is what I fear will happen over and over. We tend to struggle with that

This should be a close game with the Vols winning. Bama struggles (a little) to run the ball and stop the run so we should be able to control the clock. We need to establish the run, work the play action and hit some passes downfield. Get Nico into a rythm with some quick hit short completions and play as fast as possible. They are susceptible on defense and we have to capitalize without hurting ourselves with penalties.

I believe it will be a close game with a TD or less margin. But all a close game does is make predicting the winner extremely difficult.

a bad break for either team in the last couple minutes could cost them the game. A bad or non call by an official could cost one team the game. a bad bounce of the football could lead to a loss.

all a close game does is make fans of both teams hold their breath during the last 5 minutes hoping for a win.

Ainge said earlier this week . . . That we cannot expect to win without Nico throwing 1-2 TDs.

I agree with that assessment.

Sacks do take away from rushing yards. Last year ole Lank ran it 9 times for 3 yards against us, for zero rushing touchdows. Our entire defense is better this year. We didn't struggle with him running in 2023. What would be your fear exactly?

Idk. I’m afraid to feel too good about a bad Oline and a first year starter. I’m sure Josh will have a good plan going into this game though. Tennessee for sure can win this game. I just feel like the Oline issues will be hard to overcome. I also feel like the refs will likely call more holds on our guys bc they tend to get a bit tired and sloppy.

Really hope both of us are wrong and we blow them out of Neyland.

First half Bama versus Georgia would be tough, but since halftime of that game Bama has struggled. Almost lost that game, lost to VU and Carolina should have beaten them. So its not like Saban's Bama, for whatever reason. and I sure don't know the reasons

We... uhhh.... we don't do that.
