I posted this in another thread, but got no response:
I am new to Volnation, but havebeen a Vols fan since I was in diapers. It has only been in the past 2 years that I have paid much attention to recruiting. I would pay a little attention on NSD, but only to see how we had done. These past 2 years it seems as though recruiting has exploded. I have become addicted to this site and keeping track of commitments. My question is this. Has the emphasis fans place on keeping track of recruiting grown in the past few years, or have I just been out of the loop until recently?

From what I can tell, the explosion of facebook, fan sites, twitter, and blogs have boosted the the number of recruiting junkies out there. Its easier to follow and information is shared much faster.

There is a certain irony, isn't there?

Welcome to the board. I know exactly what you mean. I honestly never followed recruiting until I joined this board.

There have been hard core recruiting junkies for a while, but living in the internet age has made it easier to find out about recruits. It has made it more accessible to a wider base of people. Now you can even follow a recruit's twitter and read every eloquent thought that pops out of their head.

Some folks I think aren't happy unless their complaining about something. Who cares how often or what time of the year someone visits this boards. Some are diehard year round and others as they see fit, it's still a free country so come visit as you like.

Following recruiting makes football more interesting. It at least gives me something to follow when we aren't playing games.

I see this on many sites.... Its like the guy that tells tourists to go ski/surf somewhere else because they don't know as much or aren't connected or aren't as dedicted as much as you are. What does that really mean? Your better than them because they are interested during the time of the year that recruiting is really big? Your better than them because you manage to stay on a site about recruiting all year long?

Everyone speculates and Trolls are everywhere but whats the deal with hating on people that do have a life outside of Volnation?

I'm not going to be in here trolling all the time especially with Golf season is in. Does that mean you don't like me? or that I'm not as cool as you?

Point is... tons of people are hypocrites and will say anything behind a computer keyboard especially to start a new Thread.

"Once a year recruiting junkie" here and i just want to apologize to you for clogging up the board with pointless threads and starting rediculous rumors.
Also want to apologize for having a life (you should try it) outside of recruiting and not spending all my worthless time studying the ins and outs of college football recruiting. Thank you for making a measley little Volunteer Fan like me feel welcome on your Almighty Recruiting Board!
I will also try to remember that I was put on this earth to make people like you happy!
Thanks again Almighty Volnation God! :the_finger:

Figures!!! the type that's never going to find happiness in this life, so they resent others that are happy and try to make them miserable. My advice get out of that rut, life is to short.

Realizing who you are is the 1st step, now do something about it before your short time is over.

I too have never followed recruiting as closely as I did this year...not sure why but I've just followed it more closely this year...

I think we should help all casual VolNation fans with a key of common acronyms...for example....

GBO = Go Big Orange
LOI = Letter of Intent
X = Moron who lives in Southern California
TIFWIW = Take it for what it's worth

and the all timer....

TOS = The Other Site

Says the guy who's only been a member for 1 signing class........

Just curious, what was the point of this thread? Seems kind of pointless to me.
