no worse than David Duke endorsing Ron Paul although the irony can't be ignored.

Is it just me or does anyone see a Dave Chappelle parody or a SNL skit involving Byrd having a "senior moment" and showing up at an Obama rally in full klan gear?

Ahh. Clayton Bigsby. So, so funny.

If Chappelle emerged, that would be a great idea for a skit.

Maybe Byrd is vying for the vice-presidency? :birgits_giggle:

...besides, what does an endorsement now mean anyway...the race is all but over...and you know he isn't going to endorse a (R).

I am glad others find it funny. People are just too uptight sometimes and I worried some might find that offensive.

I suspect this endorsement is aimed at beating McCain. I also suspect that it will have a similar impact on this race as it did the D primary race in WV.

Interesting that the state he represents (and that elected him) overwhelmingly (about 2 to 1) voted for Hillary over Obama. So much for representation...

Remember what happened to the Gore when he didn't carry his own state.

That poor ole Byrd. I'd say his fellow members from his Klan initiation class are so disappointed in him.

What does that have to do with this? Obama is from Illinois and will easily carry his own state.

Probably nothing but I find it interesting his votes were outnumbered 2 to 1 by Hillary's in his own state.

whose own state? Byrd's? The endorsement came more than a week after his state voted, and typically Senators' endorsements have very little impact on how voters in that state vote anyway.

Governors and state legislators tend to have more impact, but not always. NC Gov. Mike Easley endorsed Clinton in the Dem primary here, but Obama still beat her by 15 pts. or so.
