'19 CA ATH/WR Horace "Bru" McCoy (Tennessee commit)

Yeah he went to Texas outta HS...then USC. Not sure exactly how that all went down. But I agree he's likely looking at us as a place he can amass tons of numbers quickly to get some draft stock fast.
The opposite. Signed early with USC and was miffed that Kliff Kingsbury downplayed the possibility of coaching in the NFL. when Kingsbury took the Cardinals job, he felt they had pushed the early signing date to lock him in. Transferred to Texas and almost immediately regretted it. So he transferred back and the back and forth hurt his initial development. It’s not exactly been stable at USC since so that’s where we’re at.

Something went wrong and I don’t think it’s salvageable.
Yeah..I read that twitter thread by that former USC player castigating the school over not supporting Bru. He must be really ticked off at the school for not having his back.

Maybe I am ignorant and have paid zero attention, BUT THIS GUY IS A STUD. How did I miss how highly touted he was?

Agreed. In 6 games as a freshman with USC, he had 21 catches for 236 yds and 2 TDs. That would have placed in 3rd with receptions on our team last year behind only Tillman and Velus. He will be a problem for our opponents opposite Tillman this upcoming season if he jumps on the Heupel train.

Did Payton not have better production than that last year?

I see a freshman in 6 games putting up those numbers and extrapolating to a full season being close to 50 catches - 500 yards and 4 TDs. I think he can be more of a player opposite Tillman than the senior Payton was last season.

I agree with you. He's a better player than Payton if his head is on straight. Plus the pedigree and height/weight/speed factor.

Lol...you don't understand Brubear...he is nothing but a contrarion troll. We could be #1 in every possible offensive metric, and that freakin jerk will still piss and moan if he thinks it will get a rise.

Not about Bruin, but this reminds me of a post during the UK game last season when Suave said our offense was predictable lol

Game threads really are their own special segment of VN

McCoy reminds me a lot of another former USC WR, JuJu Smith-Schuster. Both around the same build (plus-size athletes), both came in with prospects on both sides of the ball with both ultimately choosing offense, they do their damage on short to intermediate routes, and neither are afraid to go over the middle to make contested catches. Not the most explosive guys and both probably run in the high 4.5s.

NFL Athletically Gifted. Now does he have the heart and mind to master his immense Skills. Don't know but if I am coaching I sure like to find out. In CHRIST Alone

If you read the article above you’ll have zero question about his heart and mind.

I think he'll be a bigger asset when it's said and done but at the end of the day Payton would have still been more productive last year. You can't just gift imaginary stats to equal the season... if the same plays were called then fant and Warren still get their receptions they did so unless we stop being balanced between the run/pass Idk where you're getting these reception numbers.
