Darnell didn’t start performing at that level until Ellarbee took over. Turned Mincey/Crawford into a viable option at LT to allow Wright to return to RT and dominate. Spraggins and Mays were 3 stars he turned into SEC OL of the week performers. That’s more than “serviceable”. Umarov is a 4 star who’s ahead of schedule and I think backs up Campbell at LT this season before taking over next. Addison Nichols is a returning true freshman starter a couple years ago but is now waiting his chance. This OL gets better every season and I’m reissuing a similar sentiment I expressed last off-season when everyone was worried about losing Cade Mays.

His growth could be similar to Wright's. Evaluators labeled Wright as an "undraftable" prospect after the 2021 season, so he returned to school and took the next step. He's now preparing to potentially become a top-10 draft pick, a standing Baker eventually wants to reach.

Glen Elarbee was in California early in the week to see Brandon Baker as the Vols look to lock in an official visit. Tennessee is swinging big there with offensive tackle being near or at the top for key positions of need. Elarbee was also in Florida and Georgia.

One of Butch’s dumbass maneuvers right out of the gate was not retaining Pittman ( who wanted to stay) and bringing Mahoney with him instead.

Heistand was a pretty good OL coach too, but got lost in the shuffle of terrible teams.

4-star OT Brandon Baker
I logged a pick for Oregon on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Brandon Baker Wednesday and I like where the Ducks sit. Is there competition? Sure, but Dan Lanning’s program is in a great spot. He has official visits lined up with Georgia and Ohio State this month. Florida State and Tennessee are two more schools to keep an eye on. Texas has been mentioned as well, but Oregon will be tough to beat.

Talked the most about Oregon (been there 6 times), Ohio St (been there twice; "A1 place to be...the standard I'm looking for"), UGA ("I like how they play...need to see how i fit in"), Texas.

We will see if Aydin Breland and Brandon Baker make it in next weekend. The plan is to still be in town but we are in more of a see it to believe it thing just because there was talk in June that never materialized. Maybe this trip is the time they make it to town.
