‘23 CA QB Jaden Rashada

The general thought in the Nicco thread was once a player in Cali signs an NIL deal that it was 100% a done deal. Does this change people's thoughts on recruits being able to flip even with NIL in place?

Not really. Rashada may have not signed anything with Ruiz. We don't know. Nico signed something with Spyre and already received a payment from what I recall.

I just find it hard to believe that any 5 star committed to Miami and stayed committed that long without Ruiz involvement.

Ruiz is definitely involved, but we don't know if documents have been signed concerning NIL, what's in those documents if any were signed, or if it was just a handshake agreement. Whatever the deal was, clearly there was a way out of it.

More of this absolute ignorance. Stars are the reason UT didn't beat UGA? Then what was the reason the Vols DID beat UF, LSU, and Bama? According to "stars", Bama is the most talented team in the country by a fairly wide margin. LSU is 8th. UF is 12th. UT is 19th.

UGA is a very talented team. That would be true if their guys were given 3*. It would be true if recruiting rankings didn't exist. Talent, not "stars", helped UGA win. The two are not equivalent.

And why would UT pursue Rashada when they have Nico committed? UF has 19 4* players committed. Fourteen of them are from Florida. There are currently 82 players rated 4/5* in the state of Florida. Any more moronic questions about why UF does well in recruiting or why it is more difficult for UT when there's seldom 14 4/5* players in the state of TN?

The "guy" for UT will do two things extremely well. They will find a lot of talent that's overlooked by others (those 3* players you are convinced are automatically inferior)... and they will develop talent well.

Lol. You keep on being proven wrong yet you think you are right. Don’t you get tired of being wrong? Show me where I said we should go after Rashada? Especially when we have the much better QB. Your thinking and attitude is that of a perpetual 8-9 win program. Hey you be you. I want TN to be a national title contender. And you don’t get to that point unless you get the high 4/5* players. That’s a fact you can’t deny. You do your best to try but you ultimately fail.
you're drooling over UF recruiting in the Rashada thread. one might conclude you think the reason for said drooling is because rashada is now in UF's class.

not a hard bridge to cross.

go find another UF recruit's thread to drool about it in and we can shift the conversation there. but please make sure you pick someone that's clearly better than anyone we've got committed this time.

and don't act like this isn't the reaction you were lookin for lol.

Smoking us in recruiting? That's a bit dramatic. 247 had Florida 8th, and us 11th in recruiting rankings, which are wildly subjective. Not a whole lot of difference in being ranked 8th and 11th.
I don't get why UF is doing as good as they are, certainly not their play on the field.

UF smoking us in recruiting. That’s just great.
You are legitimately the worst haha we are #5 in the country and you are complaining that Florida has a recruiting class that's 3 spots higher... did you know that we are 6 spots higher than them for 2024? What's your critique of that class or will you just wait until something bad happens to give us your input.

Yeah here we go with this tired BS again. God forbid I want us to have a great recruiting class. I mean I guess I should be happy that UF is out recruiting us huh? Oh and recruiting is done. Especially if they flip a couple more highly ranked guys their lead on us will grow.

My stance on recruiting had nothing to do with how I feel about our season. We are having a tremendous season. We have a shot at the national championship. I am surprised you didn’t include you are not a true fan lol.

No idea how your reply addresses anything I said about your initial freak-out.

BOT, I want us to have a great recruiting class as well but I also think this class is much better than it's current ranking. Here's a few things to consider....
Cam Seldon is probably the #2 athlete in the country(6'2" 220lbs with 4.3 speed), but he plays for a tiny school in the middle of nowhere, VA. Turn on senior film and you could put Nathan Leacock up against other 5* WR's in this class. He also has a better combination of size and speed than many of them. The same could be said for Weathersby on the defensive side at his position. When you look at what Ricky Gibson has done this year and consider that he runs a 4.3 40, you realize that he is grossly underrated. Nathan Robinson is 6'6" 265lbs and super athletic. He dominates on defense but plays for a terrible Greenbrier team with no real talent outside of him. There's no way that he should only be a 3*. Jalen Smith dominates against the top competition in GA every week at LB, but he's still a 3*. These are all guys that are severely underrated in this class by the recruiting services.

It’s not a freak out. Good grief. Just my observations. I just really, really, really hate Florida and want them to fail at every sport they play. Yes it irkes me that they have a better recruiting class than we do. I will not apologize for wanting us to have a better recruiting class than sunbelt Billy.

I remember a studly 2019 class after we came off:

3-7
5-7

Let's not act like this is unique.

Current success is only a small portion of recruiting.

So winning isn’t that important? So what is? Cheating? Because that’s how that so called “studly” 2019 class was achieved. I guess Beupel should take the Pruitt approach to recruiting??
