Pretty good comp from an arm strength and athleticism standpoint. Nico needs to add some padding to his bones (stating the obvious) like Herbert has. Herbert was about 15 pounds heavier as a HS senior and is currently about 30 pounds heavier. Nico will get there once he's committed to strength training and football as his lone sport.

Whereas Dante Moore, Nico Iamaleava, Jaden Rashada and Malachi Nelson have all gone head first into the fire in one way or another.

After a historical state title run his junior season, Moore dominated the camp scene this offseason. Iamaleava has arguably the best physical tools of any quarterback in the last decade and out-threw just about everyone this summer in camp settings.

Rashada and Nelson meanwhile play at the highest levels of California high school football and have done nothing but dominate on those levels of competition and be wildly impressive in camps and national 7-on-7 tournaments.

Outside of Isidore Newman's low-level competition, Manning did not participate in any offseason camps or national competitions, making it nearly impossible to truly compare him against the best of the best.
That is not to say that Manning is still an elite quarterback talent. He likely has the highest floor of any quarterback in the class and was seriously considered for the No. 1 spot even without the offseason work in the camp scene.

I don’t understand how they can say at the bottom of that article that Manning still has the highest floor of anyone in this class when just a few paraphrases above they talk about how he is a complete mystery due to not camping and bad competition. Which is it? Does he have an high floor or does no one really know how good he is?

It’s annoying but it makes sense from their perspective.

It’s a much better position for them to hype him up and be wrong than it is to say he’s overrated and be proven wrong.

Agreed. Probably saying he has a high floor because of his upbringing and name. Those others guys are already better imo, with Nico having the highest ceiling.

And because he's likely had the best and longest development, something the others almost certainly have not had. We know Nico has been a QB a comparatively short time, and yet he's so good. How much better does he get? Arch has been groomed since birth.
