I guess he isn't waiting to see who will be the coach.
His top 3 is UGA Clemson Ohio State
Anyone think he can be swayed to stay home?
Hes gone. Some are just having a hard time coming to grips with it.
Actually, I do kind of raise my eyebrows a little when I see a kid come to Tennessee if he is from Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Athens, Lexington, Columbia, Auburn, Oxford etc., etc.
However, I almost never see this, so when a kid goes from Knoxville (Higgins, Rogers, Mays), I gotta admit, It is a little disturbing to me.
It's not too unusual I guess for a Tennessee kid (or Georgia or Mississippi or whatever) to go to another school, but when you grow up in a town and go to all of the games and, in some cases, your father played there...I don't know... I just don't get it.
I hate to be nasty, but screw him. If he wants to go to Clemson and win a national championship, then he needs to get his ass in his car and head to SC. I sure won't mourne his loss.
If he wants to stay home with the team his dad played for--the team he supposedly LOVES--then, he should do that. Being at Tennessee didn't hurt Barnette, Dobbs, and Kamara in their pro aspirations. If his ego requires him to go to Clemson or THE OSU because thats what he feels he needs to validate the fact he is a real winner, then go ahead on. A really good coach can win with severral three star and a few four star players. Let Cade Mays 'do what's best for his career'. I hope we beat his ass in the national championship game in his senior year. Flame away.
Sorry, I misspoke--I meant to say 'fat ass'.
I absolutely hate the mercenary nature of sports. Trey Smith is going to be a #1 draft pick barring injury. Coming to his home school is not hurting him at all in that regard.
Cade will end up at TN because of coach Fulmer. Wait and see.
I spoke with Cade a little bit last night, and while it maybe cracks the door open slightly for Tennessee whereas it seemed to be a done deal that he absolutely wasn't going to sign with the Vols about 48 hours ago Mays made it sound like it really isn't a huge deal to him that Fulmer is the AD. He's more worried about who the coach is going to be. Mays' father obviously has a good relationship with Fulmer and played for him back in the early to mid-'90s, but Cade made it clear to me that he's going to be the one making the decision not his dad and he's still much more interested in UT's coaching hire.
As of right now, it doesn't sound like Mays even is planning to visit Tennessee. If the Vols can convince him to change that, I'll say they have at least a legitimate shot.
