I wouldn't worry too much about Sonny's future, the folks in Lubbock will be making him an offer in December...if not sooner. The "Coach Bro Show" is wearing thin at Tech and with Pat Mahomes turning pro it ain't gonna get any better. It isn't very difficult seeing Sonny following his father's (Spike) footsteps as HC at Tech. They'll love his wide open offense there.

I'm surprised Coach Bro wasn't let go after this season. I know it is Texas Tech and expectations aren't as high there as some other places but he is 13-23 over 4 years in conference play. That ain't good. Only a single bowl victory, and that was in his first year with all of Tuberville's players.

Tech should have their choice from either of TCU's Co-OCs ( both from the Leach coaching tree) or Dykes. I'm as surprised as you are (but thankful) that Kingsbury is still there.

I wonder if the Coach Bro image has a lot to do with why he's still there. If a 65-year-old dude (like Tuberville) was there with that record, they'd be fired. Tuberville was fired with a record much better than that.

I think they hired Kliff to appease the Leachers. That place was toxic after they fired The Pirate...Tuberville didn't stand a chance. The administration didn't have a clue as to the loyalty the core fan base had for Mike. Kingsbury's failure should help ease the transition for the next staff.

Hell, I still love Leach and that crazy mofo used to beat us like a drum.

Wasn't Leach to TN a major possibility at one point? I was 14 when Fulmer was fired so I don't remember all the behind the scenes stuff

He was a name thrown around on various people's wish lists but I don't think he was ever contacted. There was still a lot of baggage from the Adam James alleged mistreatment story (Kiffin left about 2 weeks after that story broke).
