I think Kellie has proved she is a good recruited (not elite) but can coach with the pieces she acquires.

I think she has proven she can spot talent.

But getting one commit in two years, even a very good one, makes it hard to say she is a good recruiter.

She has to bring in recruits like Horston and Key on her own and not just coach them up after someone else signs them.

That is not a knock on her or where she has taken us. That is just what the job here requires, and it is one of the things she has not proven she can do yet. Conference championships and deep runs in the NCAA are two others.

She has us playing well. She has developed the talent she has. And she can spot talent. Those are the things she seems to have proven she can do at the level we need them done at. I am very pleased where we are right now given where we were. We just have to see if she can take the next steps.

It doesn't make it hard for me to say she is a good recruiter because she landed transfers that have made huge impacts on the team. Dye was a player of the year in her conference (good recruiter), Walker has been a good get and a good defender (good recruiter), and a Green was/is an important piece (good recruiter).

If our basis is just HS then i will say she is below good. But considering she brought Dye in i'm giving her a grade of a B.

Spotting talent and getting the pieces to fit are also examples of good recruiting because that recruit helps your team.

Look at schools with all this five star talent i would say can get them to sign but a good recruiter also has to recruit the talent that will help them ultimately win.

This is not a knock to your assessment i just think recruiting is not just getting them to sign but getting the right pieces. I'm not as worried about missing out on HS targets now with the portal and the way things are set up. Now if Kellie starts striking out all the way around i'll get worried.

thanks for your input though!

The way I see it, if we reach the FF with the players we have, then do we reallllllly need to amp up the recruiting? I mean, wouldn't getting to the FF indicate recruiting is going very well? Maybe not the players everyone expected would get a program to the FF, but obviously indicating the RIGHT players were recruited?

lol I do struggle!

But, in all honesty Tennessee has yet to play (outside of Stanford) the games that will be the most challenging for them, so I feel it's a good idea to see how they fare against South Carolina, LSU and Missouri first. Any or all three of those games could end up being losses in a terrible streak, and if they are that'll cause a total meltdown in the coverage and perception game.

Better to see if they can win at LEAST one, and preferably two, of those games before we say we're "back."

Every game is most challenging bc we are Tennessee...We see the best from the worst every time we step on the court...We ARE one of the conference's highest seeds, as well as Nationally. We and SC will get the best or worst from every one we play until either of us become insignificant
