Calexit!

Now that I have a couple of minutes...

Yes, I thought the Obama Administration was fairly draconian with their policies. Starting with Cap and Trade up front. Yes, it failed, but overall, the fact the government was trying to "auction" off acceptable levels of greenhouse gases should have been appalling to nearly everyone concerned. Sorry, if climate change is that drastic, why should you worry about money?

Then there was this:

Companies Face Fines for Not Using Unavailable Biofuel

Might as well make the gas companies add in unicorn piss.

Then there was the Clean Power Plan. Lowering CO2 levels by 32%. Basically, this was the regulation that would have killed the coal industry. And forced the individual states to comply.

How about the Waters of the United States rule? Basically, the EPA was poised to be able to fine and regulate everything from a minor spring to ponds on private lands. Yeah, that's draconian.

And the Paris Treaty. Yes, it sucked for us. Yes, it was a horrible deal from the start. Yes, it gave India and the PRC free reign for nearly 15 years to pollute until their hearts were content.

Yes, it unfairly targeted the US while giving a pass for far worse polluters. But you know what happened? Something miraculous. Individual cities, states and companies vowed to abide by the Treaty stipulations regardless of the Federal government enforcement.

Holy cow! They did something without being forced by the rule of law? How is that even possible? Blame and whine about Trump all you want, but he did the right thing. Mayors and Governors and Captains of Industry whined and bitched and vowed to "we'll show him who's boss!" by implementing the provisions...all without being mandated to.

Shocking.
The fine for not using unavailable bio fuels yes draconian. You know good and well the companies would never take the initiative to try and achieve such regulations on their own industry. The Paris Treaty is not a goal, the goal is to reduce these greenhouse gasses. I agree that the treaty was for show, but that don't mean you get out of it. What they going to sanction us? lol. What was the draconian punishment for such a "violation" of not meeting the "goal" by any member?

I remember a bunch of countries talking about refusing to do trade deals with us because we wouldn't sign.

Not to mention the draconian provisions in the greatest legislation ever passed before it was read.

Yeah, Obama was awesome.

California’s ‘own damn satellite’ will be launched to track climate pollutants, Jerry Brown says

“In California, with science under attack, in fact we’re under attack by a lot of people, including Donald Trump, but the climate threat still keeps growing,” Brown said in his closing remarks at the Global Climate Action Summit, a conference he hosted this week in San Francisco encouraging regional governments and businesses to adopt stronger policies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Young said no state money would be used for the project, but California “plans to provide in-kind contributions and possible additional resources to assure data access and to facilitate appropriate emission reductions.” The Overlook International Foundation and the Grantham Foundation have provided initial funding, he added, and further fundraising is expected to complete the project.

Sounds like a good job creation effort to me. Perfectly in line with Trump's goals.

Only you would try to give Trump credit for something he is not deserving of. Trump is still waiting on the Peace Prize for his great job with NK.

If only the California locals thought as much about climate and carbon emissions as mick does He might have something . except they don’t , they just talk a big game .

California would become an impoverished 3rd world country with a dictatorship. Let them go... than annex them back I'm about 15 years and give change their constitution for them

Oh, there is a happy ending... apparently, they moved BACK to California.

Maybe some of these Cali folk will get a taste of a few summers in Nashville or ATL and reconsider their decisions... We can only hope.

Dont tell me it was about "conservatism". Austin is a liberal enclave.
