I love Cal.

He can take hisn and lose to yourn. Or he can take yourn and lose to hisn, better than anyone in a championship setting.

Pretty misleading thread title; Calipari wasn't what was referred to as the "embarrassment" in the statement.

He's taken them to two of their programs 4 elite eights. Seems like they should celebrate him

I don't blame Memphis to be honest. Who the hell would honor a coach that got them placed on probation, especially one that is still recruiting in your city? That seems absurd. And for Dick Vitale to be calling Memphis "small" for not kissing his @#$ is laughable-Vitale has been John's lap dog for years. Every time he does a Kentucky game I just have to turn it down-he does everything but provide Cal with oral gratification at mid court.

Are you really looking for a number? Or just an argument?

Bottom line is one was vacated under his watch, regardless if he was implicated or not.

We're all bias in the situation so it's useless, no matter how many "facts" are thrown out. If you have him, you love him. If you don't, you hate him. Look at Memphis now.

Long story short, Camby and Rose hurt the program more than Cal imo. I don't think Cal is completely innocent (regardless of implications which never were thrown at him officially), or cleaner than any other head coach, but I don't think he is personally and individually responsible like many fans accuse him of being.

Fair enough. I have been in the Memphis area for 30 years other than the 4 when I went to UT. I grew up a Memphis basketball fan and changed my allegiance for UT around the time he was hired. A little part of me likes Cal. But he is a manipulator and egomaniac. Great recruiter, great motivator, and above average bench coach.

Things have happened at his schools for a reason, but college basketball is a dirty business.

Agreed completely. I'm not sure I'd use manipulator and egomaniac, but I definitely see him as someone who is concerned about personal advancement a lot.

Anecdotal claims don't mean much. I feel comfortable saying the majority of UK fans like him. He says the right things (coach speak or not), hasn't any player controversies, and seems to maintain the relationships he builds.

Probably will hate him in about 4 years, let's be honest.

If he leaves, yeah, I bet a lot would be mad. Unless of course that four years involved somehow missing the Final Four over and over (ala Tubby) or some scandal.

It will be a scandal I believe. I honestly believe, what he's doing is 100% crooked. That's not my bias at all. Set that aside, his past aside, there was a recent mini scandle over Anthony Davis not being "elligible." When all is said and done, and wouldn't be suprised if Kentucky
Loses a banner.

I "believe" you'll be wearing a UK avatar again this year. :good!:
