Whatever helps you through...

Huh?
I don't give a d---. Not my program.

Just saying...I doubt that news of no more Mauis was well-received by anyone, but it's Calipari making the decision, so everyone falls in line and agrees it must be for the best.

Cal won't be forgotten "four seconds" after. Sure, he'll probably go somewhere and be successful, but the majority of UK fans will appreciate him after the Billy G years.

Kind of like how he didn't want to schedule Indiana anymore.

He did the same with UNC. He wanted a neutral site series iirc. Even UK fans didn't really like it. It hurt us last year imo because our schedule was really criticized (not saying we would have won though). And those are always great games. UNC and Indiana (in recent years) have been strong opponents.

It isn't fewer games, they play in preseason tourneys like the ones at the Barclay Center last year where the Championship is played in a NBA facility and the other two games are played at Rupp - as opposed to all 3 games in Maui.

I must have misinterpreted your reasoning.
So, it's not that UK is going to avoid all exempt events. They're just going to avoid the really far trips for three games, in exchange for additional home games and a game in an NBA building.

Exactly - I don't know who was the first to do it but they like the premier game against a good opponent (Maryland last year) with the two bunnies at home so we can all buy more soda and popcorn - making sure Cal can get the oil changed in his A8.

The SECT is the signature event of UK's fan base. I know you care more about the NCAAT, but several thousand people converge on the SECT every year, and for some, it's the only vacation they ever take.

So, you have a fan base that considers the SECT the best vacation they can take, and the leader of the program would end the SECT if he could. That sounds rather black/white to me.

I just think the relationship between Calipari and BBN will be ready to blow up when he leaves.

I agree generally with your analysis

I like that word better than cupcakes.

Seems like a waste of time. There is only one tournament that matters, and it's the only one I watch.

Since when did a NIT bound team become a "good" opponent?

I am a bit surprised by the move simply because of the teams youth. Seems like you would like to play in this tournament format to maybe get these kids feet wet for march. I've said it a couple times, I think the best thing for UK next year would be to get scared by an inferior team early, and to lose a game or two to a pretty good team early. Knock down the egos a bit, get the guys to all buy into Cal, and he'll have them ready to roll come conference play.

Well, like UK Maryland looked a lot better in November than they did in March.

As to your other point I think it's valid and I'm sure it was considered. I think this was a move to appease fans as much as anything.
