... It is great to see JCroom developing as a receiver. He appears to be gaining confidence in himself and the system. Just wanted to say thanks and congrats. And I am admittedly curious as to whether CBJ has continued to win you over as you said he did.

He is definitely coming on. I love the size between him and North. 6'5" and 6'4" respectively.

Croom has definitely been a bright spot this year. Really look forward to his progression over the next few years.

Jason had a very good game. We need him to earn the starting spot and become the game breaking receiver that he seems like he should be.

I've been ticked off at WRs dropping balls. But got admit I was surprised to find myself out of my chair and threatening Shirley's life with a boa constrictor hug when Croom caught that pass.

If I were MZTERRY I'd avoid this board for the rest of Croom's career at Tennessee. The better he plays, the more he'll be trashed when he makes a mistake. Happens to almost all of our best players. They are rarely appreciated in their time.

Yes he has had two great games in a row. We really need him to continue to grow into this offense and be the receiver we all knew he could be.

This is not true from what I've seen.

She should be very proud of her son's development.

Now, if we can only find someone who doesn't throw at his shoes or the 10th row...

Thank you for your son's commitment to Tennesee. He is doing well, and better each game.Don't lose faith in the few jerks who post on here because they are too short mentally and emotionally to survive in actual people to people contact.Stay with us and enjoy the upward ride along with Jason and the other Vols. Love to you from Volnation.

this! awesome to see jason getting more catches recently. He'll be a beast and get some good stats and help the team when the qb situation gets a little more consistent.

I personally (who played corner in HS) would hate tackling him lol

I'm on the boards reading all of the time.lol

I'm learning not to respond to off base stupid comments and accepting that every game is different. Some people are true fans some are "game day fans"...on the band wagon for whomever does well that game.lol

I'm proud of Jason and the strides he's making to be better, do better, and support the team as a whole.

I'm not going to respond to any of the questions regarding CBJ and staff. Many of you have begun to form your own opinions

~I see many of you beginning to speak negatively about the coaching

~i was shocked out of seat when i heard the booing at the game Saturday, actually the first time it happen i thought you were doing it towards USA, then my nephew told me"no, Auntie"..etc smh

The one thing i can say is this is the hardest fan base to please, and the same thing that i hate about this fan base is the same thing that i respect so much. We came to UT because of the passionate people, Dooley, Baggett and Terry Joseph...in that order, and we remain VFL because of you passionate people.

I have to ask this question to the head cyber coaches of Volnation:

I saw a post or two somewhere bashing the recruits / players of the 2012=2013.classes; stating that Cbj inherited a mess of recruits or something to that affect, which prompted me to look at Cincinnati offer list from those two classes. So with that in mind answer this for me:

1: do you all know that those two classes of recruits has 19 players that had offers from both schools and yet our sons chose to be Vols? Do you think that was a mistake? Of those 19 players 12 are all American.

2: not getting on the Dooley train, but i see so many of you recently trash talking him about these two classes specifically, but you're not addressing CBJ had these same kids on his radar, so why is that not being addressed? So that being a fact; why is there such a difference in why you all aren't remaining loyal to our boys who at one time less than 18 months ago, you admired so much? They're the same kids. Two great coaches with their eyes on the same prizes.....UT won on both ends of that spectrum and you're still not happy. You ended up with a Coach you like and the all American kids.

What's the real issue?

I was one of the people being vocal about the 2012 and 2013 classes Dooley was bringing in.

The Receivers (your son included) were top notch.

The problem was depth/numbers at other position groups. You can't win with receivers alone. Dooley and his staff didn't close the deal on LBs, OL and DBs. The numbers don't lie. It's not even a statement about quality... there just aren't numbers.

After 46 years of following the Big Orange through thick and thin, the most accurate analysis that I could offer of our fan base would be the following: Yes, we have a fiercely proud and extremely passionate fan base. Yes, the losing we have endured over the course of the last 5-6 years has grated on the collective nerves of the Big Orange Nation.

There is, however, a disproportionately loud and hypercritical group of "fans" who describe themselves as Tennessee loyalists, who Coach Majors long ago dubbed most appropriately as the "Legions of the Miserable." If the Environmental Protection Agency had the power to pass judgment on these people, based on their behavior, they would have no alternative but to declare these Negavols as a toxic waste dump. They seem to have no real conception of supporting their team without reservation and are prone to turn on a dime and cannibalistically devour (yes, I am speaking metaphorically) their team and coaches.

I don't totally disagree, but at the same token, many didn't come or decommited because of all the turmoil.

Praying it all works out in the end

One of the best ways for us cyber coaches to evaluate a recruit is his offer list. When his other offers are Florida and Alabama and LSU, then it's likely that he's a pretty good player. When his other offers are Cincinnati and Louisville and North Carolina State, he's probably not that good. Obviously it's imperfect but that's about the best we can do from down here in our basements.

As far as Dooley's recruiting during that last year goes -- all we really need to know is that he did not seriously recruit Vonn Bell, an elite player from the Chattanooga area who happens to be a lifelong Vol fan. Dooley didn't even go after him. Jones came in and pushed hard, but it was too late. And then Derek Dooley sat up there on cable TV on signing day, and talked about how Vonn Bell was a great player whom anybody would love to have -- even though he didn't bother going after him himself. Forgive us if we think that Dooley might not exactly have been giving his all for Tennessee on the recruiting trail his last year in Knoxville.

It's this way with every school though.

Ron Zook was fired after 3 years and he had an overall winning record, winning SEC record, etc.

Big programs with big money invested expect to win.

Shula at Bama was fired in his 4th year after posting a 10-win season the year before.

The Zook/Shula firings don't get brought up because they were followed up by Meyers/Saban. That's the difference.

Here's to hoping the Dooley years are washed away but it's hard to ask a fanbase to buy into a 3rd coach in 4 years saying the same things as the other 2 guys did.

I really do still like CBJ and I hope he'll pull it out in the end. I think he will... it'll just be a rough road.
