If you go out to the bars and have a great night, and the bartenders buy all your drinks and you find a $100 bill on the floor, and you meet an incredibly attractive woman and she comes home with you, and you get in bed with her......and then she pulls out a penis, did you still have a "reasonably good" night? I dunno.

A few facts here. BP teams are not, in all likelihood, ever going to win the NCAA or maybe even get to the elite eight, but if he can win a division title and perhaps a conference title every few years, have winning seasons, play competitive bb, and get an NCAA bid most years he probably is going to be o.k. at UT. Don Devoe started the downward trend for UT bb and it has been up and down since his tenure. Along comes BP, the bar is raised a bit and BP has galvanized the program. BP has the gift of gab, is among the best p.r. people in the coaching business and will be alright as long as he remains competitive. Even those of us who support BP recognize the bb facts at UT. Football is king here and always will be.

If merely being competitive is good enough, then Mike Hamilton is wasting an enormous amount of money on the men's basketball program.

Yea, I bet Florida never wins a NC in basketball---where have you been hiding for the past few years? I'm sick of the excuse that we can't win in basketball because we are a football school because it simply isn't true. Is Texas a football school--wonder what their current basketball rating is now?

This program exists apart from your screwy reality, and in REAL LIFE, UT loves Pearl and what he's done for the Vols. You go to games? You should know that. Belligerent minorities need to quit hijacking every thread. You aren't funny, you aren't impressing anyone, and CBP just made you all look stupid vs Kansas. I like people dense enough to think Tennessee got one extra dime for being on CBS Sunday. It's part of the SEC package. Auburn benefitted as much financially from that as UT did.

I can assure you Tennessee benefited far more financially than Auburn Sunday. It goes way further than the SEC package. You might want to back out of that one homey.

This is true, but what they did get was 100's of thousands if not a million or two in free publicity ala the win which made every paper in the country as a semi featured article, ESPN ran with this for two solid days,, and even this am I heard the locker room talk being replayed on my way to work. This was priceless and great for recruiting as well as good feelings and good will about our university at a time when we needed something good to happen - a shot in the arm.
