Hmmmmm

"Well I've never been offered a job, and I've not been contacted by anybody at this time, so, my father told me a long time ago, you don't ever say never because I don't believe in lying so, I don't plan on leaving, I have no intention of resigning. I'm unbelievably happy. And very appreciative to be apart of this program, but you can't ever say never,

In other words, David Cutcliffe is like the 99% of us who are fairly happy with our current jobs, but would at least listen if anybody wanted to talk about future opportunities.

not calling you out, but i've only read "no intentions of leaving USC"... w/ nothing on the table for me to leave, I have no intentions of leaving grad school. now then tomorrow morning if i wake up and have a guaranteed contract of 3.3 mil a year for ten years, well i'm leaving grad school. has spurrier flat said i'm not leaving USC?

I know he won't leave.:dance2: I mean Cutcliffe

well, for now, I sure hope not. There are so many HC vacancies opening up that several of the "choice" OCs will probably be bumped-up to the captain's chair meaning that there will be slim pickings for anyone in the market. It seems like they could offer Cut some more money if necessary.

He's just being political, and I mean that in a nice way. He would never say he is looking to leave in case he actually has to stay here. Plus it looks bad for recruiting, and leaving or not he wouldnt want to hurt UT.

300,000 for a OC, that's pretty high.

I think UT should show their appreciation for him and make sure he is the highest paid assistant coach(O/C) in college football.:dunno:

I'm not sure where the line should be drawn for assistant head coach/OC salaries. Supposedly Jimbo Fisher makes $400,000. I think it's all situational. How much is it worth to avoid having another RS-prototype at OC with CPF overriding playcalls from the sideline?

I for one couldn't take 3 straight runs up the middle again.

Umm, no. Johnny Majors punted on third down. I'm saying, it's better to run up the middle than it is to punt on third down and give up.

Also, the MYTH that "running up the middle" has at the University of Tennessee is one I laugh at everytime I'm in the stadium and some Diamond in the Rough Head Coach is sitting near me talking about how stupid "running up the middle" is.

Tennessee's offensive system is built on running between the tackles. By doing so successfully you wear down your opponent and set them up for big pass plays and also the long touchdown runs that Coker had this season. I always love hearing people that know very little about what it takes to coach a college football team expound on how foolish running up the middle is, only to see them get excited when Tennessee picks up a first down or touchdown on a play action fake that was set up by the very "run up the middle" they were cussing about, two plays earlier.

Why? If you listen to the idiots handing out awards, Cutcliffe isn't even the best assistant coach on his own team.

I think Johnny Majors was known as "Up the Middle" Majors. That's what I recall, at least.
