Cameron Tatum

why not... we had 9 guys play atleast 18 minutes a game this season and if Tony Passley could have taken advantage of his opportunity it would have been 10, so the way i c it we lose one (bradshaw) and gain 3 in Prince, Tatum, and Williams and maybe Manny Harris... so that gives us 10 or 11 guys who could potentially play atleast 15 minutes a game

Who's Manny Harris?

I think Tatum could be a superstar in the SEC. I think he will contribute immediately as a freshman. However, he will not start this season unless their is an injury. JuJuan Smith will be an All-SEC guard and our best perimeter defender.

I'm not 100% sold on Prince at PG either, but I think that his natural ability alone could beat out Howell.

I heard that Pearl was going to use Lofton at PG some this season if he improves on his ball handling so Lofton can improve his stock in the NBA. Does anyone think this is a possibility? That would make room for Prince and just about completely bump Howell out of the rotation.

In 2005 and 2006, Pearl had no more than a 9 guy rotation.

From 2002-2004 at UWM, he had 7-9 guy rotations.

Do you know exactly what you're talking about?

If you're asking me, then yes, I do know what I'm talking about. University of Southern Indiana was about 10 miles from my home, and I saw a lot of games when Pearl was there. At USI, he had the athletes he needed to do this. He actually rotated all 5 players about every 4 minutes unless someone was lights-out on fire. He didn't have enough athletes to play 10 guys at UW-M, or the past 2 seasons at UT. Once Pearl has enough players at the needed positions, UT will run 10-deep every season, just like his days at USI.

Prince will likely not see any significant minutes at the point, if any at all. He came to UT under the impression that he will likely play a versatile role in the rotation (2,3 and maybe even some 4). I do agree that his natural ability can beat out howell, but howell's defense improved dramatically (and will continue to get better) and I'm not sure Prince can guard SEC pg's (which Howell has already proven).

I get what you're saying NOW. But before you said "He's done it ever since his days at USI." He hasn't. He did it at USI, and that's it.

Pass whatever you're smoking this way - Howell was burnt by every competent PG he tried to defend. It seemed like he got better because he played less and less.

Again, he hasn't had 10 players good enough to see significant PT since USI. He tried to go 10 deep this past season with Passley as the 10th guy, but it was obvious from the start that wouldn't work out. We should see 10-deep at UT next season.

No no no, I get what you're saying - I'm merely pointing out that you misspoke the 1st time around.

Howell's defense is atrocious at the SEC level. But, Prince's defense on opposing PG's will not be any better. If you are comparing his lateral quickness to somebody currently on the roster, then Howell is probably a fair assesment.

He is a slightly more athletic Marques Johnson.

He's alot more athletic than Marques. Watch one of his films before making that assessment. I'd also love to hear you say that to Pearl and his staff. He's almost 6'8, has great length, and he has a pretty nice vertical. I expect to see his lateral quickness to improve over the summer. (wasn't healthy last year due to a viral infection) I'll gurantee he'll be a better defender by the time he departs from Knoxville.

I've seen film. In fact, I've seen him play in person in high school. I stick by my assesment that is barely mroe athletic (talking mostly in terms of quickness) than Marques Johnson.

Meule has seen him play. He is very tough. It's exciting for him to come to the vols.

I tried to track back but couldn't figure out who we're talking about here. Are we still referring to Tatum? If so, isn't he closer to 6'5" than 6'8"?
