Can Butler beat Duke?

Duke is going to win. I'll be rooting for Butler... I hate Duke but I do have a lot of respect for Coach K.

When Duke is clicking on all cylinders, they're nearly unbeatable.
I don't think Butler has to size to slow Duke on the boards and that's the whole key to Duke. If Duke dominates the glass, its gonna be raining 3s again.

I'll give them credit... I had them losing to Murray State.

I think they Can win if they hold Duke like they held Syracuse.
It would be a great story... I just don't know if they have enough left in the tank. Duke's been here before.

I have a feeling that if this is the final score, Butler will be the one on top. They haven't given up 60 to anybody in the tournament. It's a home game for them, they are on a crazy winning streak, and they run the best half-court game I've seen in a long time. They are going to have to shoot better than they did against MSU, but any team that can shoot 30% and still win in the final 4 can certainly beat the dookies.

I think Duke will win 73-58, but only because they will get every call and have had this tournament given to them by the Selection Committee. It won't be because they play great defense and rebound or have 3 very good college basketball players. No, it's because the CBS and NCAA Suits conspired to give Duke the easiest possible way to win another championship.

This would make sense if they had shot more than almost no free throws last night and still dropped the hammer on one of the top two or three teams in this field.

If they can beat Ohio State (in the regular season), Syracuse, Kansas State and Michigan State, they can beat Duke, too. They might not, the way Duke is playing, but it's obvious they're good enough to beat Duke on any given night.

Dook will win easily and show the Big East and the other major conferences why the ACC rules the roost when it comes to the tournament...

I'm sorry, I thought I poured on the sarcasm enough in my statement that people would realize what a ridiculous statement I made. I was completely joking and mocking anyone who actually believes crap like that. Unfortunately, there are enough people on here that think Duke gets every break all the time and has not earned the right to be where they are at this point or were given the Final 4. If Duke wins tomorrow, they will have essentially won 2 road games to win their region and then the National Title. That to me doesn't sound like a gift. I understand why everyone is cheering for Butler, I would be also if they were playing anyone other than Duke or UT. However, some of this Duke hating stuff is ridiculous, especially for this particular team and the kids that are on it. I understand why Carolina fans or the classless group up in College Park dislike Duke, or even why the classiest group up in Lexington hate Duke. I just don't understand the casual fan that have no ties to rival schools that hate Duke.

I'm sorry but I don't get all the parallels between Duke basketball and Notre Dame Football. I realize that Duke is very polarizing, as is ND. However, I think the reasons people dislike Duke are different than ND. Duke has had much more success over the last twenty years than Notre Dame. ND has won 1 MNC in the past 22 years, Duke has won 3 National Titles in the past 19, possibly 4 tomorrow. Notre Dame has won 1 bowl game in 18 years (2 years ago in the Hawaii Bowl). Notre Dame is the poster child for underachievement when it comes to program and national expectations year in and year out.

The arrogance of the ND football program is far greater than that of Duke Basketball. Notre Dame is profiting off of something that happened years and years ago. Duke was a good bball school prior to Coach K, but was brought to a different level since his hire. Duke has gone to the Final 4 11 times since 1986. College Bball is not College Football, but Duke's overall level consistency is hard to reach or surpass.

I think a lot of it has to do with hatred of "white privilege" that Duke seems to represent as an academic institution with so many people (do NOT start a race-based debate in here regarding that, I will delete any posts that do so. Feel free to start another thread here or even in the Politics forum to discuss that).

People hate Notre Dame simply because they get so much attention for having accomplished nothing in almost a quarter century now. The thing is that ESPN caters to "casual east coast sports fan guy" and that guy still follows Notre Dame. It's why programs like Mike and Mike talk about ND more than any other college football program. USC or Florida or us or whoever could win five national titles in a row, but Notre Dame will still get as much coverage just because they're Notre Dame, and that's who the mindless masses follow.

Just be satisfied that if you hate Notre Dame and you can articulate why, that automatically makes you better and smarter than the vast majority of the sports-viewing public because you know the national landscape well enough to know they haven't mattered in decades.

Maybe they can get the camera man with the giant flash from the Buffalo Wild Wings commercials to point it at Kyle Singler, his pale ass would suffer 3rd degree burns, and Duke would lose about 20 points.
