Can someone explain..

Lot of sheep wearing their seatbelts everyday cause the law says they need to. You gonna stand up against that injustice too?? Hell while we’re at it let’s just walk around naked everywhere, screw the laws that say you must wear clothes.....

Wearing a mask isn’t that hard, and at the very least wearing it shows you care about the people u see on a daily basis, especially older folks since their more vulnerable. The problem is people nowadays only gaf about themselves
So you are on the side telling me to wear one or I don't care, BOT is telling me not to wear one because I look dumb. Why don't everybody just STFU and do what you want to do and if you are breaking state and local laws in the process accept the consequences?

RIght now I have a reason at home plus at work my boss says wear one. It's pretty cut and dried to me and I don't give two chits about feelers or how I look.

Read it again since I said "aren't getting sick" and said absolutely nothing about the positive test stats you reference. The way the "positive tests" are being tracked and fearfully reported is unlike anything we've every seen

Are you serious? A positive test is kids getting sick. The reason its reported like we see is because this virus was an unknown that came out of nowhere and shocked us all. I've list family members from it and I know the damn virus is real. Down play it if you want but I know its real, but your post is seriously dumb.

And is incredibly good at telling others what they should and shouldn't do in their private lives. This unfortunately is a hill that some of the conservative "leave me the F alone" folks have chosen to die on.....see my post above. The sheer stupidity of the American citizen is appalling at times.

You do you is a foreign concept to too many people anymore.

It's really not. They are not getting sick with this and their deaths of kids < 15 is in double digits nationwide. I am more worried about my young ones getting the flu than covid

"Um small children are at virtually zero risk." This really is wrong. Children are getting heavily infected in various organs of their bodies. While their mortality rate is much lower than adults, the long term effects of the infections are not known. Equating that with "zero risk" is factually wrong.

What? A positive test absolutely does not mean someone is sick. That's ridiculous and ignores every asymptomatic case reported in the world. It's a real virus but the response had been absurd and cost more than it saved. Protect the vulnerable and let the economy start back again

How many are getting "heavily infected"? Can you link it? There's at least one pediatrician on here and I'm not sure I've heard him sounding that alarm

This article was posted May, 8, about four and a half months ago. I've seen others but would have to spend some time to search them. Basically, they mention widespread observations in covid-19 infected children that include high viral loads in certain organs and strong immune reactions. There are concerns about the extent and long term damage to organs. I am not a doctor, but I've seen enough of these reports to view them as real concerns.
Unpacking the new multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) - Boston Children's Discoveries

"“It’s definitely clear that kids are not impacted as severely as adults, but I think it’s … not fair to say it’s a completely benign illness in children. Certainly for some children they are asymptomatic, for some children they have very mild symptoms but we clearly have a lot of hospitalizations and we’ve now had over 100 deaths.” Sean T. O’Leary, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, vice chair of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases.
Report: 513,415 children diagnosed with COVID-19

Still defined as a rare occurrence with a low morality. Packaging all these outliers into reasons to shut down or hide is very disingenuous. I am absolutely certain if this could be sold as dangerous to kids the world would be in hiding

I remember it being addressed recently in the PF thread

Technically, we are calling it Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), now. It does share many features with KD, but there are differences, as well. Very uncommon (<<1% of CV+ children), overall mortality around 1%, and I do not believe there has been a confirmed case in our area, yet. Treatment is similar to KD: IV immunoglobulin, aspirin, occ steroids, antiviral if still PCR+, but it is usually regarded as a "post-infectious" process.

Is there anything in particular you'd like to know about?

I can’t talk to a fool who says having a virus is not being sick. Whether asymptomatic or not a virus in your body that can still spread rapidly and there is no cure or medication for is a major threat. Breaking News: Titans and Vikings shut down everything until and likely canceling Sunday games

A person is "sick" when a virus has absolutely zero effect on them? How often are you tested for other viruses without any symptoms? How often do our bodies fend off viruses without us even realizing it?

Yeah I'm the fool

A virus is a sickness it alters the natural health of the body. People die from heart attacks that don’t know they have heart issues. Ppl hv died from COVID because they didn’t know they had it until it was too late. So your rationale is not making sense. Our bodies can correct a lot but that doesn’t mean that it’s not sick.

When your body is not affected and you have no symptoms you are not sick. Why has the definition suddenly been changed with this particular virus but no others?

My youngest gets the flu every year. I am around him during that time and very close when caring for him. What are the odds that the flu virus never enters my body? Would you claim that I get sick from the flu every year when I don't even have a runny nose? Should I get tested?

The point is that the virus has far above "absolutely zero effect." Perhaps I'll be able to find the articles which state the conditions as a growing concern being widely observed by attending physicians. I am not able to be dismissive as you are about the levels of damage they describe.

Zero effect on those with no symptoms. These are looking at sick children and seeing the effect. When looking at overall statistics by age group their rates are extremely low. If this were a widespread concern of would absolutely have been pushed to the forefront. Instead you have to search hard to even find an article from months ago. Just curious how many cases have occurred to make it a real concern

"Packaging all these outliers into reasons to shut down or hide is very disingenuous." Why don't you lose the personal attacks, right now, or you can get back to me with them after you've witnessed a few of the autopsies. Economic and political agendas do not show up in an autopsy. And do not blame me for the crummy search engines which count hits and push needed information into oblivion unless it is front page news which boosts advertising revenue.

At least, they shouldn't.
No personal attacks were made. I just choose actual numbers instead of an appeal to emotion when deciding to nuke the entire economy. As sad as it may be, a handful of autopsies in a country of 330 million shouldn't drive an economic agenda either

It's not for me to determine the significance of the autopsies. I can tell you that the results reported by doctors included significant organ damage in arteries, heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, etc. Whereas death typically results from lung damage in adults, autopsies in children showed damage from heavy viral loads in other organs, damage which had gone undetected until the autopsy. I am hammering a stake into the ground on the effects of covid-19 on children being above zero.

Not sure I every said they were absolute zero. Maybe close to it statistically but not absolutely zero. So there, we agree. However you do keep claiming this without providing a number which is interesting. My thought is that if anyone had a significant number if cases to present it would be everywhere. If it was significant my kids would absolutely be on lockdown too instead of attending summer camp, riding the bus, going to school and starting back up team sports

Difference is I'm not willing to crater the entire economy because of some uncomfortable autopsies. How many happen from other factors that are just as uncomfortable to perform? Again this is an appeal to emotion rather than a data driven discussion

Debate somebody else, if that is all you want to do. You said deaths in children were in double digits, and I quoted over a hundred counted by early May. That got NO recognition from you, whatsoever. Instead of searching for truth, you appear to be arguing a predetermined position based on personal preference or politics.

Apologies for not acknowledging but the official covid death count for ages 0-15 is not triple digits, it's 66. What age is your upper limit for children so we're on the same page?

Edit: found it for you. Maybe the phrase "small children" isn't appropriate here?

include people up to age 20 in their pediatric case counts.

I don’t know but it drives me nuts.... it’s more ridiculous than requiring masks on the sidelines outdoors while shaking other coaches hands and taking it off to talk to the players all around you

I am in firm acknowledgement that masks are necessary to keep the spread somewhat in control so we can get back to some parts of normalcy... like sports.

But I have to agree. Same for the refs. They have a neck gaiter up then pull it down when they huddle up to chat. Just don’t wear them if that is how you are going to misuse them.
