Which is fine, more power to him for that. However, looks pretty silly if he indeed only has a GED. Especially since he's not played any higher than A ball in 4 seasons. Most players that make it to the bigs move up faster than that.

He got a good signing bonus that is also paying for his college education. If he goes back and completes that the GED is irrelevant. You could argue that him having 3 years of college was a choice with education in mind over just 2 if he had stayed in HS. He is much closer to graduating than he would have been anyway.

Andre Dawkins graduated early and enrolled at Duke, but he moved schools and was re-classified. He was a 4th year junior when he graduated.
