Devries is intriguing if he hits the portal. Not sure he's as athletic as DK but he can score, handle the ball, and he's actually bigger by a bit.

He looks thicker/bigger on film, but listed at 6-7, 210. Knecht is 6-6, 204. But DK definitely has more athleticism. Devries is probably stronger.

I think he'd have a decent shot at being effective at this level because of that size. There's not many 6'6+ guards out there that are putting up 20+ a game. He had 39 points 13 rebounds and 7 assists the other night. He had 15 against Miss State last year and they actually beat them in the game.

P.J. Haggerty will probably generate some portal buzz too if he enters. He's a great scorer for Tulsa as a rs freshman. Decent size at 6'3. Not much of a three point shooter but draws fouls like crazy and shoots about as many free throws as anyone in the country. He had 27 vs Memphis and 25 vs Florida Atlantic. He's scored 20+ 18 times this season.

You never replied on this, which may be a reply in itself. Basilio just mentioned him as an option on his show, so I've now heard his name mentioned in three places. Says we will be fighting Illinois for him. I'll take this as enough evidence to believe we are, in fact, involved behind the scenes.

I just realized Devries plays for his dad at Drake. That softens my belief that he may enter the portal, unfortunately.

I didn't realize that either. I guess the only hope there might be that he's at his ceiling at Drake and may want to try and improve his NIL opportunities at another place.

If he enters the portal I definitely think we will be in pursuit of him, due to recent years issues I don’t wanna mention much about guys not in the portal yet. I made that comment about him just cause I truly was surprised nobody even in jest had mentioned him, he’s one of the hottest players in the LM/MM level and happens to be at the same school as Knecht.

Gotcha. Did a little film study on him and he appears to be a perfect JJJ replacement. Like JJJ, he doesn't always display high-level athleticism, but every now and then sneaks in and makes a really athletic play. He has more of a scorers mentality, but that may be due to the level he's playing at and might not be reflective of how he'd play/perform at the SEC level. They have almost identical size. Hard to picture him being as good a defender, but he may be a bit better on the offensive end. Thomas probably isn't as versatile as JJJ, either.

One thing's for sure, he won't be Dalton Knecht. He doesn't possess that level of athleticism or natural ability as a shooter and scorer. But he would fill a role and be a valuable member of the team if he chose to transfer to Tennessee.

Yeah, just have to hope he doesn't feel the pressure to hang around and help dad, who quite honestly, may be in line for a higher profile job, himself. He's got a .731 winning% in 6 seasons at Drake with a 201-147 record. They blew out Steve Alford and Nevada by 19 points on a neutral floor, this year, who is a likely NCAAT team. They split with Indiana State, this year, and also split with traditional darlings Belmont and Northern Iowa.
