You also might have noticed the last 6-8 minutes on switches, KC rotated down on Smith and Tennessee was perfectly fine with that. Seems Kennedy’s wingspan makes his height less a negative. I also noticed that only once did Auburn try to go to Smith when KC was defending.
Same here, but it really makes sense in hindsight. Guard him with a mildly athletic, taller player for him to shoot over. Smith, for all of his great qualities, seems content to shoot jumpers. He rarely tries to get to the basket. Having James guard him along the perimeter would have been a bit of an unnecessary waste of our best defender to force Smith to shoot the jump-shots that he wants to shoot, anyway.I thought that JJJ was going to be the primary defender on Jabari Smith. Seems like it was mostly BHH and Aidoo drawing the assignment.
