Cancer cure?

Well, it wasn't me that didn't make the New Year. My wife went to check on her 85 year old dad this morning, and found him dead in the kitchen floor. The water was running in the kitchen sink and the fridge door was open. I hate that she was alone when she found him. I wish I had gone with her. Like I said, you just never know when your number is called.

My condolences 72. Never easy to lose a parent.

Sorry to hear about your loss 72. Tough way to start off a new year. If someone offered me 85 today, I'd take it.

Sorry 72. Crappy way to start the new year for sure. I hope your wife finds some solace in the fact he lived a long and presumably full life.

How long before those people that know anything about it is knocked off ? I’m scared to even open the link .

We're at a point now, though, where so much of this is already proliferated through the networks by the time we read this that whoever wants the data gone would have to kill almost three digits worth of people and scrub multiple networks to kill the data.

I like it, though. This one looks very promising.

I’m just trying to not be one of those digits , the money we are talking about here is beyond anything we can imagine . Not that I’m scared or anything 😂

Hah! No, this isn't what I'm talking about. There are networks of other labs that already have the results, checking to see if the methodology and outcome are reproducible. That data is usually handled on Internet 2, the private super high speed network just for academia and research. If you're not looking at the data on that specific network, you're fine to read the article. No need to fear the piano string bolo tie. ;)

I was mostly joking . The part I was serious about is how dangerous it would be to discover a true cure for cancer . I can’t imagine the roller coaster ride that would be . Excitement , adrenaline, realizing you are about to put big pharmaceuticals out of businesses , nervousness , fear , death by piano wire bolo . Lol

Depending on the University, it may already be buried by the sponsor. A graduate assistantship or research fellowship means all of your research belongs to the sponsoring entity, and if that entity wants it shelved then so be it.

It makes me somewhat sad to have an idea of how much great research there has been done that now sits in files, the primary and secondary researchers barred by contract from mentioning it exists, that will not see the light of day because it would hurt the profits of older, significantly less efficient, currently highly profitable technologies and remedies.

Think batteries, for one.

Sometimes the cure is in the prevention...

A Soda-A-Day Could Result In Liver Cancer; New Study Finds | ZeroHedge

The study's lead authors, Dr. Longgang Zhao, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Xuehong Zhang, ScD, associate professor at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, revealed participants who consumed sugar-sweetened beverages daily had a chronic liver disease mortality rate of 17.7 per 100,000 person-years. In contrast, this rate decreased to 7.1 for individuals who consumed such drinks three times or less monthly. No significant cancer risk was observed for artificially sweetened beverages.

So if you drink Jack, cut out the coke to save your liver.
