To add to this, the current understanding is that essentially all cervical cancer is due to some form of HPV, making it one of the most preventable forms of cancer we face. The vaccine covers the majority, which is great, but responsible sexual activity is also recommended.

Annual pap smear is usually sufficient to catch cervical cancer at early stage. Most women who end up with more advanced disease simply don't get annual pap smears.

Isn’t this how the zombie apocalypse starts??

Seriously though I hope there is a breakthrough in a cure for cancer.

In defense of chemotherapy: I have a handful of families that would gladly give testimony of their children's successful battle with cancer and cure through modern medical protocol. I wish I could post pictures of my beautiful children that have been cured of leukemia, brain, bone, and thyroid cancers.

Thanks to the research (primarily chemotherapy) of St Jude's Hospital, the survival rate of many pediatric malignancies is now over 90%. Amazing.

amen doc...I just hope they can develop something to increase the survival rate of high risk neuroblastoma children.

No matter how much or how little I make, I will always donate to St. Jude.

My sister was an early patient there. They told mom and dad she would never make it. She turns 62 tomorrow. They did a fantastic job treating her and making miracles happen.
Side note, our family got to know Danny and Marlo fairly well over the years. Mom and dad did a lot of work for ALSAC. I had such a crush on Marlo.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Cancer is still a devastating disease. I truly believe research is making great progress preventing and curing most types of the disease. Prayers are with you and your family.
