If you haven't watched Community, you need to. That's where a lot of it comes from. He said at some point that if there was a black spiderman, he could play it and it just kind of took off.

I wished they would just bring back AG to do it. I know some of the people on here didn't like him,but at least we would have some continuity to the character,instead of changing every 2-3 yrs

Gairfield wasn't bad but the character he was asked to play was not the Peter Parker grew up reading about. In short he was in mediocre movies.

Then again, a full on origin reboot was a bad idea from the start.

They really need to treat these characters like James Bond. Just change actors when necessary but keep moving the story forward.

I liked Garfield as well but Marvel wants this version of the character to be back in HS for the next several films.

I saw that they want a young actor or a relatively young looking actor that can play 14-17yo for the next couple of films.

Spider-Man Must Be White, Straight Says Sony Emails | Variety

Well this is quickly turning ugly. I have a feeling this about to all blow up big time.

Even though I have no problems whatsoever with anyone dictating how Spider-man is portrayed, I have a feeling that this is going to grow into some sort of lame controversy and Sony/Marvel is going to cave and change the character to Milo Morales to appease them, or cast a non-Caucasian as Peter Parker.

I have a feeling I'm going to end up wishing they never even went down this path of trying to get SM in the MCU because I have a feeling they're going to completely botch it.

Let them get mad. This particular storyline featured Peter Parker. Period. Telling a story the way it actually happened and was written is not racial profiling or any other kind of discrimination. It has gotten to the point where people cry discrimination over anything simply because they know they will get their way, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

I agree; I just really hope Sony/Marvel doesn't cave to the almost certain backlash by a minority of the fans.

The Nerdist is probably going to start really pumping this now, considering they were the biggest people I saw pushing Morales and/or a black Peter Parker.

I;m generally not one to whine about PC silliness but it's getting worse... Now Marvel Comics is going to start pushing Miles Morales as the "Primary" Spider-Man as part of the All-New All-Different Marvel Universe following the universe merging Secret Wars event. Peter will now be the secondary Spider-Man. Ridiculous,
