Didn't see this posted anywhere. I'm always interested if Tom Hanks is in it. This looks like it will be a pretty good watch. Anyone plan to check it out?

I plan to. It looks pretty intense and Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors.

Some are saying Tom Hanks could get two Oscar nominations this year. One for Captain Phillips and a supporting nod for Saving Mr. Banks where he portrays Walt Disney.

The buzz isn't very good. I'm in wait and see mode before I drop any $ on this one.

I'm definitely going to see this. My only problem is that Hollywood keeps pumping out these pg-13 movies that clearly should be rated R.

Unless Hanks plays some character role like Gump, Big, etc... he is boring and not very believable as an actor.

Cast Away, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia (nearly starved himself for this role), A League of Their Own. I could go on. I think he is great in many different types of roles.

Its got a early 93% Certified Fresh Rating from Rottentomatoes.com and a 80 out of 100 Metascore on Metacritic.com

Hanks has some incredible work out there, but I also think he has some yawner performances, too. He is great, but a little overrated.

Viewed this this afternoon. A nomination is assured. Great role and one of the best actors of his generation assures it. (Hanks).

Well, if you are talking about boring movies, I would say none, but if you are talking bad performances I would say there are a few. I am never bored by Ed Norton, Robert DeNiro, Robert Duvall...to name a few.

Saw one critic yesterday morning who gave Captain Phillips his second 5 out of 5 rating of the year.

His first 5 of 5 was last week with Gravity.

He said he doesn't see any way Hanks isn't nominated for an Academy Award. He said that despite knowing the outcome it holds your attention from start to finish.

I saw it today. Was a very, very good movie. The final scene was one of the best acted that I've seen in a while. Intense, to say the least.

I thought it was awesome. It was very well done. No way Hanks isn't nominated for the Academy Award (the movie will be nominated for a bunch of awards).
