Career change/advice

Some days I love my profession, but other days I really hate practicing law and consider looking at other fields.

I don't really care what I do for a living, as long as I'm happy and can financially support my family.

Has anyone done a career change from something completely different than what they were doing before?

If so, how did it work out for you and any suggestions?

I'd say look at the parts you dislike about the job and look for ways to minimize those since there are parts you say your really enjoy. No need to throw out the whole thing.

Yeah. I'm trying to do that, but I've been in such a narrow field for so long it's hard to get into something else that you don't have much experience with

They have age waivers . 20 years puts you at 57 with a nice pension.

No but I know a lot of professional folks that turn to that profession. A friend who was a dentist does it. A part time cop friend does it. They do well.

I personally don't buy the "you should love going to your job everyday" stuff that says you will find a job/career that is wholly satisfying and inspiring. Unrealistic.

No need to stay in a job you hate but expecting every day to be a blessing (as some of these career seeking books/advisors suggest) is looney tunes.

If your alive or able to walk. I'd hate to wager the next 20 years of my life on a government nest egg.

What is your MOS? Anyway at 37 the daily PT would be physically demanding.

The only real job, Infantry. Daily PT is a joke unless you're combat arms.

I was in creditor's rights hated it, now in insurance defense, love it. As it was stated, try another area of law.
