Career change/advice

Some days I love my profession, but other days I really hate practicing law and consider looking at other fields.

I don't really care what I do for a living, as long as I'm happy and can financially support my family.

Has anyone done a career change from something completely different than what they were doing before?

If so, how did it work out for you and any suggestions?

Thanks!

Have you considered teaching?

SDV are you considering as a career change “working for the man” or owning your own business? A secure 9-5er with a regular paycheck holds so many people back from what they really wanna do. After a 20-year career, I cut “the man” loose & went to work for myself. Hard work, yes but the freedom that comes with it does not compare. Best wishes to you

I've been owning my own biz, just burned out in lawyering in general. I think I just need to try a different area of law, or do something else besides law

Creditor's rights would suck. I would think that insurance defense would take a toll over time, too, but that might be my "bleeding heart liberal whatever" side talking. :hi:

I hated Creditors Rights because it was basically foreclosing on homes and people would blame me for doing my job by taking their home. Insurance defense is awesome though, been in it for almost 3 years. It's fun to deny someone $50,000 because their claim is only worth $3,000, and proving it is not worth that much with their history or finding other interesting info. Recent one was a guy was "injured" yet he was a personal trainer on the side.

Me and a buddy of mine enjoy going trout fishing in the tiny streams here in the SC mountains. We like to hike deep into the woods/hills where no one else goes and try to pull something out of the stream. The smaller the stream, the better. It's basically bush-hiking with a fishing pole. I thought that could make for an interesting guide service...adventure fishing. It'd be unique. It would cost nothing to start, and wouldn't be very risky at all.

Alas, you can't do that AND play World of Tanks all day, so...

No. I appreciate the work that teachers do, however I honestly can't stand kids other than mine. :)

You should be able to teach at a community college level perhaps university with your degree.

actually:
-perfect juice bar location on Nolensville road with nothing comparable close
-help me manufacture the "Dropped-it Pocket", which is a foam or neoprene moldable piece that goes in between your seat and console so your mufficking pens, phone and French fries don't fall in the death hole
-help me figure out how to get phone chargers on golf carts
-write a children's book or series and make the first story about our dog Lenny that was lost in the woods for 17 days and made it back home

Actually some pretty good ideas, especially the golf cart

start a bedding company based off of sleep # compan. All they do is take air mattresses and throw padding on top, while charging $2500-$7500.
