Caroline Kennedy's "qualifications"

She says her experiences as a mother, writer, and fund raiser have prepared her for public office. :eek:lol:

The last thing this nation needs is another damn Kennedy in the Senate. The previous bunch have done enough damage.

You left out she is an attorney with a BA from Harvard and a JD from Columbia school of Law.

I know that not as prestigious as having a sports journalism degree from Idaho but don't let that stand in the way of a good rant.

What part of, SHE SAID her experiences as a mother, writer, and fund raiser have prepared her for public office, did you fail to comprehend?

Decent Harvard undergrads don't go to Columbia for a JD, especially from prominent Mass. families.

I'm sure she was a stellar student and received no special treatment from admissions getting into either of those schools, just like your beloved Bush.

So if she doesn't say anything about her other qualifications that means no on is suppose to comment on them? Good luck with that.

I think education is important, most people do.

Bush applied for law school at the Univ of Texas and didn't get accepted, so apparently it didn't help him. That's when he decided to get an MBA instead.

I bet that if his last name was Kennedy there would be a spot for him in an Ivy League school.

Lol what? Come on now, the Bush family has benefited in much the same way as the Kennedy family when it comes to money and legacy getting their children into top notch schools. George W. was at best an average student during his undergrad days so his inability to get into law school was of his own volition. Apparently money and legacy can only get you so far.

So your knocking her for going to the 4th best law school in America instead of the 2nd best lol. Ok whatever.

No. I'm saying strong Harvard undergrads don't go to law school at Columbia. It has nothing to do with rankings.

Being educated is important. Where did I imply it was not and what would that have to do with your obsession with pointing out where people went to school as some proof of their worthiness for a position?

I know. He will be super awesome just like his Ivy League brothers - Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and the tons of other representatives from those Ivy League schools, in Congress, with their single digit rating. All of them trying their hardest to protect us. God bless them.

The Bush family and the Kennedy family are two different animals altogether. The last name Kennedy would open many more doors than the name Bush would, even 10 years ago. You would have to admit that!

I'm not disagreeing with you about the power the Kennedy's hold, but the Bush legacy and money donations to Yale are longer standing than just his father. Ultimately he benefited in much the same way as Caroline, with the only difference being one got into law school and the other did not. I don't even know that acceptance in that case even matters, I'm just pointing out that it wasn't like Bush worked his way up from nothing based purely on his merit on his way to a Yale degree.

I wasn't saying he did. I, and the rest of the country know better. I just happen to believe that Caroline academic standing had much less to do with her being accepted into law school than her name did. This would be true for most if not all Ivy League schools. Bush would have the same advantage to the one that his family made donations to. JMO.

"I'm really coming into this as somebody who isn't, you know, part of the system, who obviously, you know, stands for the values of, you know, the Democratic Party. ... I know how important it is to, you know, to be my own person. ... It's really, you know, it's not about just the Kennedy name. It's about my own work and what I've done with those values." --Caroline Kennedy, who is almost as eloquent as Barack Obama, on seeking Hillary Clinton's Senate seat **Kennedy used the words "you know" an astounding 168 times in this interview.

"Observes a perceptive author of a letter to the editor of the New York Times: 'It's amusing that Andrew M. Cuomo, who owes his whole career to his dad, may not get the Senate seat of Hillary Rodham Clinton (who owes her whole career to her husband) because David A. Paterson (who owes his whole career to his dad) may give it to Caroline Kennedy (who owes her whole career to her dad). You would think a state as large as New York could find someone who deserves something on his or her own." --Washington Times editor Wesley Pruden
