These young Lady's body takes such a beating during the year that all of them have some problems, Diamond DeShields was so banged up from High school she could hardly play the year she did, she did not even practice with the Lady Vol's till the season was half over, but is good now.

This newfound obsession with saying nothing about injuries has become stupid. It has nothing to do with the players "owing" the fans anything. She is a player, she's suffered some sort of injury, of course fans are curious. For decades if a player sprained a knee or bruised a shoulder, then the team would say, hey, Carter's got a sprained knee or she's had arthroscopic surgery. Now, this hipa law has pushed some schools--not all--into acting like a blister is a state secret--ssshhh, can't say anything. I can certainly understand why certain injuries might require some privacy--but most don't. As I say, it's gotten rather absurd.

Part of HIPAA --not hipa, not HIPPA --gives patients the right to determine who knows what about their own, private medical issues.

It is none of your damn business, or mine, or anyone else's other than her healthcare providers what she had done. Period.

Would you like your various lab tests, prescriptions, and assorted doctor visits to be posted, read, and debated here or anywhere else? --I didn't think so.

I understand both sides but I really want to know what's going on with Jannah.

That's my biggest concern. I wish we just knew a little about what's going on with her. She's my wildcard for next season, I'm hoping she can gain some confidence in her knee cause my goodness that girl was awesome in high school and for USA basketball before she got hurt. She was a potential superstar in the making!

I wonder if Jannah Tucker re hurt her knee? I thought I saw her hurt it in one of the few games she played.

No one is talking about lab tests or prescriptions. We're talking about a basic sports injuries. Bone spurs! Oh, my: Shhhh, don't tell anybody!

Beyond that, as somebody rightly pointed out, the program could have told her not to say anything and probably did--overreacting to nothing.

I seriously doubt that other teams would have targeted Carter's knee had they known she had a minor knee issue. Good grief--how funny.

Last I checked, ALL sports fans are curious about injuries to players on teams they follow and support. That's the nature of the game. Of course a player or a program is entitled to be secretive about injuries, if they wish--but that doesn't change the fact that it is silly if not stupid. Why? Because, for one thing, word will get out anyway--as it has with Carter's injury. Second, if you try to keep something secret, the curiosity just builds. As I said, I certainly see a need to keep /certain/ sensitive health issues private. But common injuries, a minor operation to remove bone spurs? Sprained ankles? Sprained shoulder. Ridiculous.

Armchair, I think you're missing the fact that the player signs a release. If the player doesn't sign a release, then the university legally can say nothing. That may be absurd, but it's reality. (Any HIPAA experts please correct me if I'm wrong - I'm no expert)

I understand and agree with your basic desire to know what happened and I also agree it seems no big deal to say something like "a routine procedure was peformed to clean out my knee".

But if Carter doesn't sign the release - then no information gets released.

That's the way I understand it, is that correct?

They also said Ariel Massengale was on crutches. I know the last game Bashaara Graves was so beat up she could hardly play the last game.
